A group of 4 of us drove a long way expecting to draft the new MTG set last Friday. There was no indication that we wouldn't be drafting the new set when we paid, so naturally our whole pod was surprised when we were told we'd be drafting an older set that was universally panned. When I asked if we could do a different set, I was quickly shut down and told that this was what we were doing. I saw plenty of other sets behind the counter that I would've been much happier to do than the one we were forced to do. Given that we already weren't drafting the new set that everyone understandably expected to do and nobody was told otherwise until after we had already paid, I believe the least the store could've done was offer to let us draft a set that we actually wanted to do. Furthermore, we were rushed throughout the night to draft and play quickly, and I overheard employees complaining about having to stay late to accommodate "slow" drafters. When prizing was given out at the end, I asked if I could at least have packs from a different set since I didn't even want to draft that set to begin with, but was again told that this is what we were getting. When I asked about store credit instead so I could get something I actually wanted, I was informed that I would get less credit than the packs were worth. The whole event felt like an opportunity for the store to get rid of unwanted product by offloading it onto an unsuspecting group of people who were there to draft the new set. There were only 3 other people there for the event other than my group of 4. Needless to say, I don't think the store will have enough people to fire an event next week or going forward, as we will not be...
Read moreThis shop is on of the best ones I've been to in this area. The staff are very helpful, the play space is fairly large and open, and the competition is strong.
They actually have a rewards system, which is not something I think many would expect. By patronizing the store, you can save up points for things like free random rares and snacks, all the way to free store merch. Buying prices are fair and tournament priIng good as well.
As far as I've ever known, their selection for the latest Standard sets is comprehensive, with all the best cards available from the newest sets. The selection of cards for eternal formats can be a bit hit-or-miss sometimes, but they do seem to always be trying to get new singles in for those formats also.
I have seen playgroups meet up for all the more popular formats and I keep seeing the same faces, so I think the community here are strong. From a competitive aspect, I would say that my average opponent is very competent. If you're looking to grind and get better at the game, coming to their weeklies is definitely a way to do so.
Overall, I really enjoy Finch and Sparrow. I hope my review has nudged you towards want to come in and check it out yourself. I don't get out this way much, but I find it hard to believe that there's a better shop in the area. F&S definitely sets...
Read moreDONT SELL YOUR CARDS HERE! Went in to get an offer for very desirable high end Pokemon Special Illustration Rare. Their offer was 50 percent of market price. I understand that businesses need to make money and that shops take on the risk and additional inventory. However, anybody that knows the value of the card they have isn’t going to sell it at that price unless they are desperate for money. To suggest that in the current market for Pokémon cards that someone sell it to you at half the price is insulting and just seems as if you’re trying to take advantage of people thinking that they’re only selling because they need the money. better to not give somebody an offer than one that insults them. Furthermore, the prices on everything in there is all marked up. Don’t go here if you want to sell your cards. They say they specialize in high-end singles and packs and to come in and get your cards appraised but they dont say they prey on collectors that are vulnerable, taking their highly valuable cards for half the price Then turning around and the very same day, selling it for full market price...
