Dekalb County Community Complex — Local services in Smithville

The Community Complex has alot of amenities for different things. We were there today because the Public Library was having a solar eclipse watch party and plant swap with a table for kids to plant a small plant or sunflower. They can host Community events, birthday parties, baby or bridal.showers, family reunions, etc. They have a public gym that you can pay to use, as well as Zumba classes sometimes, and also do plenty of activities for the young people in our area. I do know they used to have monthly art classes, but I'm not sure if they still do them. The complex also houses our local license branch, UCHRA, and Senior Center. Normally my experience there is great. However on May 7th the history rooms a/c was out of service and we had over 100 people their for a Masonic meeting. And the noise from the adjacent room was unacceptable. We had to speak to the staff of whom was very friendly 2 or 3 times to try and rectify the problem. I think the facility coordinator should be a little more aware of what's going on. Instead we had to keep people out of our meeting ourselves several times. I'm giving 3 stars just to be nice. I love what they have done with this building. It is nice to go back to my hometown and see them adding more and more.
