Fall City is a community that pops up as a wide spot in the road. There are a couple of interesting restaurants, a few worthwhile shopping spots, lots of fair weather rafting fun and this sort of teeny grocery store.
I like it. No, they won't have 80 kinds of shampoo or the latest Asian Kimchi essentials, but they do a great job as the proverbial neighborhood market. This is never more clear than when the local produce starts rolling in in June/July. Wow. It continues through peach and pear seasons and then we all know that the strawberries didn't come from Yakima in October...
Also a good place to look for whole chickens that somehow don't weigh 5 or 6 pounds - my Mom's BBQ recipe used to call for 2.75 pounders, which are rare these days. Many, if not most of the staff, come from local families. The Farmhouse Market has for years provided local kids with their first jobs. You’ll find them friendly, helpful and courteous. Check out the market and enjoy the Fall City...

The first time I bought eggs here I had to re-crack them several times because the shells were so much stronger than I expected. I already regret discovering how good the sausage is (just tried the Demayo with Cheese and Peppers)... oh darn, sausage every morning :) Look at these squash! I didn't know squash came in such vibrant colors but it's beautiful and I can't wait to throw it on the grill. I just feel fortunate to have a place like this right...
