Giant Eagle Supermarket — Local services in Somerset Township

I do all my shopping at this location. About 2 weeks ago, I was doing a large grocery order. I am very busy and have to plan things accordingly. When I do a large grocery order, I am usually by my self, so I have to set a loaded cart in front of the store, while getting a 2nd cart. I do this all the time, with out any issues. I add up my order as I go. I have a whole process. Anyways, I let one of the managers on the floor know I was setting a full cart up front to contine my shopping. She gave me a place to let the cart sit. I was 3 hrs into shopping, when I brought the second cart up to set with the 1st cart. I needed one more cart to complete my shopping. My 1st cart was moved and when I asked about it, the woman I informed I was leaving it there, thought I left and they had put most of my stuff away. I was not happy. She got the store manager involved and he was told I was just going to the bathroom. I had all my groceries added up, knew what my total was, and now, almost all of that cart was put away. It took everything I had to not just freak out. I had been there hours. My total was all messed up. He said they'd give me a gift card for my trouble. I had 20% off of my total order saved up. When I get to 20%, I do large grocery shopping to save as much money as I can. Before my 20% off, I had spent close to 1200. I got a 5.00 gift card for my trouble. I was able to get most of what was put back, had items I forgot, because they were put back and items in my cart that weren't mine. Needless to say, I left there pretty angry. I am a loyal shopper at this location. Never had any issues with leaving a cart in a safe place to continue...

I'm from out of town so Im not sure how the store is all the time. It seems like they might be going through some renovations or changes? Again not sure. Overall the store is laid out like basically every other Giant Eagle store I've ever been to. This one did see a little dated. They had a nice selection of fresh produce, great meat and seafood department. Their selection of flowers outside where beautiful. They had a security guard standing outside, which was odd but normal I guess. He was kind and helped a lady with her sodas that fell from her carriage. The price point is at the normal GE price ranges. I will say the lady at the check out was a little rude when a family member was checking out and didn't know she had to have a card to start the self check out. I was very close to saying something... You hate your job look elsewhere. Having a bad day, its ok but do not snap at an elderly woman for not knowing how YOUR machines work. Which is why this is a 4 out of 5...

I typically shop at this location and am usually satisfied, however, I don't recommend ordering cakes or cupcakes. Etc from here if you expect them to be right. I ordered a cake, the gentleman called back almost immediately asked me a question and we made a modification. I confirmed all other parts of order was correct and the price. Gave it to my husband to go pick up the next day becaus3 I couldn't. So we sit down to have cake for our mom's birthday and the cake wasn't what we ordered.
