H Mart Somerville — Local services in Somerville

We love shopping at hmart and regularly shop at the other locations nearby. I was so excited for this location to open so close by! I waited until the hype died down a little and checked it out this weekend for the first time.

Wow. First we looked at the produce and noticed everything was either super soft and squishy or covered in mold. We didn't find a single good thing. So I went to the kimchi and prepared foods and the doors to the refrigerated sections don't fully close. The kimchi was warm to the touch and the precooked eggs were visibly rotten. The roe was also visibly rotten and smelled horrible. The shelf stable items were expired on the shelves. We tried one last section, the frozen section, and everything was full of ice crystals (obviously having thawed and been refrozen at least once).

Also, four separate times one of the employees cut me off walking, sometimes even crashing into me. It was not that crowded, they were just rushing around and not looking where they're going.

They are going to make a lot of people sick with such an unprofessional attitude towards food safety. I genuinely cannot believe this store is open like this. Our family won't be back. I just really hope they get it together before they kill someone.

Incredible to have a quality Korean market within walking distance. The place was, of course, packed with so many waiting for so long for H Mart to open here. The line to cash out went all the way to the back of the store but the H Mart team had the flow processes down and wait time from end of the line to cashier took 10 minutes on a busy Sunday. Despite the crowds buying like crazy, the H Mart team managed to keep the shelves pretty well stocked. I could not believe how many skus they manage to fit into the smaller footprint of this space. I can get most of my pantry, produce, protein, frozen goods here and not order through Weee now. They carry the marinated meats and lots of different prepared banchan so you can have KBBQ at home but also carry less familiar ethnic goods which is appreciated. I stopped to explain to several people how to select soy sauce for their use case or seaweed or the many varieties of dumplings. I love how curious people were and how H Mart is introducing new possibilities to a lot of folks. This is the best thing to happen to Davis Square since the red line...

Firts Hmart in Somerville! Amazing store, I highly recommend it.

The staff is super nice, ready to help you and can speak in Spanish.

The food and groceries selection is very different from all over the east east countries, such as Korea, China, Japan, etc

However as their imported goods they're very pricey. Remember to indugke yourself sometimes with the flavor of the unknown and new things.

The frozen are the best in any other store, even Trader Joe's can't compete with them. They're cheap and ready for a quick meal whenever you want to eat something delicious and not spend hours cooking nie spend a lot of money in a restaurant.

Go there ASAP even to just window shop.

Most importantly, it is clean! The hygiene is good and way better than any other groceries store I went to on the East...
