Problematic accessing the parking lot. Poor design/configuration. Unlike the Portage Road location, which they closed, here they treat customers with courtesy. At the Portage location the service desk employees were always rude and combative. When you requested to see a manager, they actually were worse. Emails to corporate were futile. Rather than address the issues they denied reality. Seems like most of the customers lived right there in the neighborhood. Many of them actually walked to and from that store! Canāt do that in Mishawaka or Granger, even if you lived close by. And no one would want to live in such a high traffic area. Apparently, Martinās abandoned an entire community of CUSTOMERS, many of whom have no transportation to reach their other locations. SAD. While I donāt live near there, I do empathize for those who do. Also, it was a convenient place to stop on the way to and from downtown ā now thereās only Meijer (or if really desperate Walmart āSupercenterā). Costco is just around the corner, with much better grocery offerings, plus higher quality fuel at better prices that arenāt based on purchasing certain specified items you donāt want, while access is well-designed, and theyāve got plenty of non-grocery...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhen I tried to place an order at the deli this evening, the woman working was clearly trying to avoid me. I was standing in front of the case trying to get her attention, and she kept walking and looking around as if she was trying to not make eye contact. When I finally did order, I placed an order for two paninis with sauce. I got home and both sauces were wrong. It was soaked into the bread so I couldn't scrape it off. Because I live close, I decided to go back and get the correct order. The lady had cleaned up the panini case and was again pretending to not see me. The time was only 7:45. I spoke with someone that looked liked a manager, and she said they sometimes clean up early, even though the deli says it is open until 8pm. I wouldn't have even came back if I thought the deli would be closed early. She told me she could help me with a return of the paninis though. So now I am left with no sandwiches after two trips to Martin's. This is ridiculous. You need to make them write down the sauce because this lady has messed up this way too many times. Also, if the deli is going to close before 8, do not make the hours open until 8. This just makes people...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe layout took a little getting-used-to after they closed the old store on Western Avenue and built this one. It's what you would expect once you get the swing of the layout. They have a good selection of produce, usually in great quality!
The man at the meat counter seemed a bit overwhelmed the last time I stopped in. He was helping the customer in front of me and answering the phone and running around like no other employee. I waited in line for about 10 minutes and gave up, because I didn't have time to be there very long. While I stood there, the deli girls cleaned up their work spaces and defaulted to talking to each other, a man leisurely walked past me pushing a multi-shelved cart... it just seemed like someone should have been able to come over and help the poor guy butchering meat.
Checkout is usually pretty fast, most of the cashiers are perfectly delightful. They almost always offer to help me load my groceries into my car, which is a very nice gesture- I may take advantage of it when I am less able to do so myself.
Most of the time this grocery store is good, I just go there so often- I get more opportunities to be disappointed when...
