Center of Attention Event Center — Local services in South Bend

One of the most unprofessional and blatantly racist establishments I’ve ever encountered.

My friend’s family hosted a party here, and throughout the night we were repeatedly harassed not by the actual owner, but by someone claiming to be the owner’s sister. She entered the event uninvited, wearing pajamas, and began loudly accusing guests of things that simply did not happen.

At just 8 PM, she barged in claiming someone had said the music wouldn’t be turned down because it was a “Mexican party.” No one matched the description she gave, yet she refused to calmly address the issue with the hosts and instead chose to be aggressive and confrontational. It was clear she came looking for a problem not a solution.

Later, after 9 PM, she returned with a new accusation: that underage guests were being served alcohol. This was absolutely false. The bar was being monitored by adults over 21 who were checking IDs. Uninvited people may have walked in but that was not the fault of the hosts. Despite this, she called the police and forced the party to shut down, telling everyone they had one hour to pack up and leave. Again: this person was not the owner.

She then brought in two more women, none of whom anyone knew, further escalating the chaos. It was disorganized, hostile, and beyond unprofessional.

And then came the most disturbing moment of all: someone with her again, not the owner openly said they would “get out of their car and basically get in a fight with a Mexican but used a slur.

This kind of racial hostility and harassment is not only disgusting, it’s dangerous. I would never recommend this venue to anyone, especially members of the Hispanic community. The hosts lost their deposit based on lies and prejudice.

Avoid this place at all costs. If you care about respect, safety, or basic human decency, take your business...

Attending the Center of Attention Event Center was an extremely disappointing and upsetting experience. Guests were met with unprofessionalism, disrespect, and behavior that I can only describe as discriminatory and racially biased.

One staff member—shockingly dressed in pajamas—was threatening and treated guests with an aggressive attitude. Her tone was harsh, accusatory, and condescending, yelling at people without cause. The lack of basic courtesy and customer service was glaring, and it made the entire experience deeply uncomfortable and disheartening.

The security guard on site was equally rude, completely unhelpful, and highly unprofessional. Instead of ensuring a safe and welcoming environment, he added to the tension and hostility.

No one deserves to be treated with such disrespect and discrimination, especially at a venue that claims to be inclusive. I sincerely hope management takes a serious look at their staff, their training, and the values they represent.

We made the right decision to book with this company …

Everything was so pretty, decorated very beautifully.. and we even got to bring In our own food that was a big plus !!!

The event planner reassured me that everything would be fine due to me and my family traveling from Charlotte Nc to south bend to have my daughter graduation party ..
