I needed to upgrade a pre-existing ADT home system and called up Dan Myrick, the Western PA manager. He showed up and reviewed my system and requirements, the experience was pleasant and no pressure or upselling. Dan knew I had to leave town and managed to get me installation only days later, much appreciated as the typical wait was in the two to three week range. My install date was on a Saturday. David Altman, the install tech, showed up in the afternoon to get me set up as a replacement for the tech scheduled originally as an emergency had arisen. David was efficient, knowledgeable and took his time, and like Dan easy to work with. It is unfortunate I didnt have him for the original install as it was clear some corners were cut to save time years ago.
As a large corporation you'll have systematic issues at times and ADT is not immune. Anyone needing an alarm system is well advised to call Dan directly and let him and his crew manage your install. The work ethic and attention to detail is there, they return calls and have shown the willingness to step up and come out and work, not make excuses. If there is an issue that needs addressing you'll likely avoid corporate red tape or hours on the phone as he strikes me as a hands on manager who takes care...

This company as a whole, there are a few good people that work here and may know their stuff, but overall I have had poor customer relation experiences in addition to billing issues ranging from being charged 15% more on one month's bill, having my payment increased by 40% another month, and even being charged twice a month! When I call to get it fixed, they say they fixed it and issued a refund. Only to find out the next month, a credit didn't appear and my bill actually increased. Forget about taking services off that you really don't need, because they will make you write a letter and fax it in to some obscure department and then never make the change anyway. Read moreI just got ADT a week ago. Absolutely terrible customer service and it’s impossible to cancel service. They tell you that you have 30 days to cancel but it’s really only 3 days according to the rep I spoke with. I’m out $350 on top of a $200 hvac visit for a nest thermostat that was never hooked up properly and not even compatible with my hvac unit. Do not under any circumstances trust this company. The customer service rep actually told me that her supervisor said to try to sell the thermostat on Facebook marketplace. They refused to refund me nor cancel my service without paying 100% of the 2 year contract. I haven’t even had service for more than two weeks. And once you’re set up, good luck trying to reach anyone if you have issues. Terrible...
