We’ve known about the existence of this place for a few months, but somehow we always seemed to be in the neighborhood after they closed for the day. This week, we made a point of stopping by early in the day, hoping to pick up some Empanadas to warm up for a later meal. Glad we did!
They offer seven or eight different fillings and we chose to try four of them. Three of the ones we got came in the standard half moon shape, while one came in a triangle arrangement. One of the things that really appealed to us is that they offer you the option of getting them baked or fried. We went with the baked option, and used our air fryer at home to crisp them up which worked great! There was a customer in the facility who was telling us how tasty they were fried and I see no reason to not believe him, however, we preferred not to have to rewarm food that was already fried.
They also offer four different sauces and we tried three: Their Chimichurri was garlicky and herby – although it had too much oil for our taste. The oil separated from the other ingredients so it was easy for us to pour it off (we saved it though, and used it for cooking). The Tamarindo sauce was slightly sweet and slight acidic and was a nice accompaniment to a couple of the empanadas. The disappointment was the hot sauce. It had some peppers in it, but it was more mild to maybe slightly medium. I did ask the woman who manned to counter what peppers went it to it, but all she could tell me was “Chile peppers”. Oh well.
For the Empanadas, we went with the Chicken – which was very tasty and flavorful and our favorite of them all. We could see chunks of peppers and onions with the ground chicken and it was definitely well seasoned. The beef, which was also very flavorful and seasoned, but only featured ground beef, seasoned with onions and some spices. The corn was interesting and only slightly on the sweet side – probably because the corn available this time of year is not particularly sweet?; and finally, we tried the potato and pea which reminded us strongly of the Indian Samosa. Perhaps because of that it was disappointing because we expected also the Indian seasonings and did not get them?
Since we took them to go, the woman who served us wrapped each pair of empanadas in a sheet of wax paper and put a sticker on each sheet. The stickers featured cute cartoon characters of the filling. A nice touch, since there would have been no way to tell them apart otherwise. Check out the photos to see what I’m writing about.
Our total bill for the eight empanadas and the three sauces, plus taxes was around $28 – which is very reasonable for a full meal...

The restaurant is very tiny (5 tables of 2 or so), but really beautiful.
The empanadas are delicious. We had all the meat empanadas & the spinach & cheese. All were delicious. I’d say 4-5 empanadas (depending on how hungry you are) would work fir s meal. We didn’t know that at first and we’re there close to when they closed. Next time, we’ll know.
No sauces were needed really except for the beef empanada. Most of them include cheese or sauce that was plenty.
Eating there, there were no intensely ld. Which is fine for eating (you can pick up an empanada, but it didn’t work well with the garlic or chimichurri sauce.
I highly recommend trying the empanadas whether you eat there or...
Read morePHENOMENAL!!! This is not a place you go to for atmosphere... it was very clean and had great Argentinian (I presume) music playing. My point? It's their sumptuous food you go for!!! We had the sweet corn, spinach & cheese, ham & cheese, and beef empanadas. Absolutely each was incredibly delicious- hot, & fresh. My fave was sweet corn with the tamarindo sauce . Just 🔥🔥 Their lentil stew was hearty and savory and so satisfying. Finally, we ended with Nutella banana desert empanadas - a perfect balance of both flavors!! Also 2 things of note I find important: The calories are listed on the ordering board and the deep fried prep isn't at all greasy- seriously about as dry as the oven baked empanadas. I cannot wait to go back and try the others... and another...
