I was installing a new toilet and bought a set of bolts from Weaver's. After setting the toilet on the wax ring, I couldn't turn the nuts on the bolts. I pulled the toilet up put the bolts in a vice. There is no way the nuts supplied with the bolts would turn. Those nuts worked on the new bolts that I had to run out and get at Lowes (closer for me). I also had to buy another wax ring. This fiasco cost me at least 2 hours of time. I returned the bolts to Weaver's this morning. When I explained the problem and suggested that they check the rest of the bolts in stock, I got no response like, "Wow, thanks for telling us, we'll pull them and check" . I guess maybe if I were a man, I would have been believed?? I suggested that at a minimum I be compensated for a wax ring. The answer was, "you didn't buy it here. No." Isaid, "I have to eat the cost of the 2nd wax ring???" Incredible! So my loss of time for this bad product is at least 3 hours. At $25 a hour - that's a $75 loss for me. There was no appreciation of alerting them of the problem. I should have thrown those bolts in the trash and let Weavers have more screwed customers.
Update 10/4/23 - Mr Rose contacted me this morning. The problem with the bolts was used for training for the staff. It was verified that the bolts I returned were defective and the in store stock of the toilet bolts were checked. A gift card is being mailed to me as compensation. Kudos to Weavers for responding correctly and making things right. BTW - I gave the review 3 stars because I have had many good experiences at Weavers Hardware Stores, the larger Fleetwood store is my go to place to get hard to find hardware. If they don't have it,...
Read moreI needed a couple of O-rings. I asked two associates at the blue box store and both sent me looking into different files with no luck. Ace's website showed they had dozens of choices. They did. The O-rings were in well organized and labeled shelving systems. I was asked if I needed help, I didn't and I was left alone like the good old days to find what I needed at my leisure. I took a look around the rest of the store and they had plenty of other items you could find at larger stores as well as things you would not. Will definitely go again. They had the three sizes of O-rings that I needed in single packs where the box store had some sizes in 10-packs which would be a waste. That is according to their website anyway. Like I said, even the associates didn't know...
Read moreSince they opened I put up with their sky high prices when I needed something small & was in a hurry... then today needed a few items and to do a Craftsman tool warranty exchange. The guy at the register asked did you buy the Craftsman tool here, and I said no. (It doesn't matter as that warranty is, and for eons has been unlimited.) He says we don't do that! Then after a little more discussion told him this would be my last visit & he didn't seem phased in the least. So much for trying to support local small businesses... they have no issue taking money, but aren't there when their bread/butter clientele needs support. Who needs that, life's too short... sorry, from now on it's Lowes, HD or Amazon for...
