Went in there with my 73 year old father and my brother, it was our first time going for my dad and myself and only the second time for my brother. We entered the shooting range and even thou we've been raised around firearms and know to treat a weapon as if loaded at all times we admittedly were unaware of certain shooting range procedures there and a certain man who works there came in to tell us about it and there's no issue on our end we are all in for respecting and following whatever the rules in place are there but for some odd reason it didn't seem enough for this gentleman who's name I don't know but who is of short stature and has a braided pony tail and he began to get extremely upset and highly defensive in front of my elderly father and so much so that the entire shooting range stopped shooting to listen in on him raving and red faced and threatening to kick us out and all because my brother inquired a little further about following the procedure there when he brought no carrying case for his weapon. I don't know what his perception was or if he had any previous issues going on with him but we didn't argue with him and just took in his disrespectful attitude for the sake of keeping the peace and not causing any further discomfort to our elderly father or the other shooters there. The other staff there however, were very cordial.
I saw a necessity to update my review as I took time to read many reviews and although I can see why Marksman has a 4.7 rating as I also stated about the other staff members being very cordial, however, I realized in reading the other reviews that gave it a low score that there complaints were centered around this man I mentioned above. As I stated above and made an attempt to give him some benefit of the doubt that the way he perceived us might've been off that night or I even tried to sympathize and understand we all have off days due to life hardships but in reading the reviews it's now clear that this is who he is and again with reading the other reviews that gave him a low score it seems he's a time bomb in waiting for something much more serious to take place, or conversely or a combination of both he derives a certain perverted pleasure in making himself seem grandiose by humiliating others and also I noticed in the reviews that everyone he's disrespected and made feel low are people who had already payed a good amount of money to be there and didn't want to lose there money by getting kicked out, so it seems he takes advantage that they're "hooked" already and so have to stomach his twisted and neurotic behavior.
Complaints on him have been going on for so long and those are the ones who have bothered to leave a review, I can only imagine how many more people he's behaved in such a deplorable fashion to, and yet Marksman still has him employed and doesn't bother addressing none of these concerns on the reviews. It gives me the impression he's probably family or the owners son for his person to be allowed. Again it bears restating the magnitude of severe life threatening problems a personality like his can cause as he carry's a gun on his side and by reading other reviewers it appears he's looking for an excuse to use it or is so neurotic and paranoid he feels he might have to use it. I wish my tone were different but this is so evident the case with him and how he comports himself with customers as evidenced by the other reviews that I need to be responsible and do right and warn others of his...
Read moreI came here this past Sunday and it was my first time going. I had a GREAT day at the range because of Nelson and his staff. At the moment, I'm still a little green when it comes to shooting.
Eddie who works there actually gave me some tips and was really kind while doing so. You can't beat the price either. I went with the purpose of really training with my personal firearm, but I saw the selection they had and the rental prices are priced great. So I'll definitely try something from their inventory when I'm looking to mixup my firearm selection.
You can tell Nelson is all about his customers and their safety. While there, someone wasn't properly following the rules. I think there was a warning, and after that, they were politely asked to leave, which made me feel extremely comfortable there. For a smaller range, it really does have a personality and I absolutely loved it.
I also overheard Nelson giving a lesson to this young man and he was so patient and knowledgeable. Eddie was the same way with me when he was giving me a hand while my front sight was being fixed. I can only imagine the rest of the staff follows suit, because Nelson seems to be a great business owner with expectations that makes everyone's experience fun, comfortable, relaxed, and safe.
I live about 45min to an hour away, and I still plan on getting a membership and lessons. I don't think I'll be going anywhere else to work on my shooting etiquette and skills. It was a big stress release (which I needed) and the fact that this establishment is so great made it that much better! A big thank you to Nelson, Eddie, and everyone at...
Read moreMarksman indoor range is usually my first choice to go whenever I need anything because the staff is helpful and the range is great. But today I just felt really discriminated against, i purchased a new gun and wanted to come test it out make sure everything working properly. so I walk in say hi to the employees as they are familiar faces. I ask for a box of ammo and some extended mags for my new gun, as I'm checking out and getting ready to pay for my ammo/mags and my entrance fee the lady at the counter ask for my ID soon as I give it to her she says "nope I will not be allowing you to shoot in our range" when I asked why not she said it's because I smell like marijuana, I proceeded to tell her I own a smoke shop and am exposed to smoke/insence all day and that I promise I'm not under the influence. She said I couldn't shoot regardless. So I'm like ok well I'll just take the ammo and the mags and be on my way, then they tell me they cannot sell me the ammo neither. At this point I just felt like the 30 minute drive to come out and support one of my favorite businesses was for absolutely nothing. I feel like it was really just discrimination because none of the other employees said anything about a marijuana smell up until she accused me of it. I'm a regular and love coming out to marksman but after today's experience I might just have to look for a new range. One things for sure if your coming out to shoot guns at marksman you must shower and smell clean before walking in or you wont be allowed to shoot 😭🤣 (update) ...
