I went to this restaurant's drive-thru and purchased a burrito, and seven tacos. For whatever reason they forgot to put the cilantro and onions on all of the tacos. When I arrived at my house, we saw the error and immediately called the restaurant. I spoke to Laura who had taken my order and explained the situation. She apologized and said that I could come back and get the cilantro and onions. I asked if they could remake my order correctly. She placed me on hold. While on hold, the call was disconnected. Not sure if that was accidental, but, it could have been a coincidence. I called back and she said that the answer was no. I asked if I could speak to the manager. She said that there was no manager at the location and she did not know when one would be present. I returned today and asked to speak with a manager. They said that there is no manager. I said that there has to be someone in charge. An older lady who had been pacing back and forth behind her intervened. She said that she was fully aware of the situation, but, that it had already been a few days and that if I had returned earlier they would have considered it. She said that they apologize and that they would insure that it never happens again. *Unless you're ordering a plate of BS, or rotten baloney, I wouldn't recommend anyone to spend their hard-earned cash at this restaurant. It hurts to say that because I am talking about a Mexican restaurant that I would assume is owned by Mexicans. I go out of my way to support minority owned businesses. However, this place has no integrity and I would be doing future customers a disservice by not reporting it. I definitely don't hope that they will close down, but if they stay open, I hope that they will miraculously be overcome...
Read moreI haven't eaten Mexican food in a long time, so when I finally did today, La Fonda totally hit the spot! This was recommended to me by a fellow volunteer and I was so happy that it was only five minutes away off of TX-3, south of Winkler. I must've came in near opening, because it wasn't busy yet at 11a. I was greeted by a waitress/hostess and she told me to sit anywhere. OMG, the menu options - there were so many, pictures included! I opted for Grilled Chicken Breast which comes with the usual spanish rice, refried beans, lettuce/tomatoes, avocado slices and your choice of 3 flour or corn tortillas. While I waited shortly for my meal, I munched on the free red sauce and non-greasy, thick tortilla chips. Yep, non-greasy and thick!! So yummy! I got my meal, I must admit, the melted cheese on my chicken breast didn't look too appetizing so I pushed it aside in one big clump. But oh man, the grilled chicken breast, rice, lettuce, and refried beans with tortilla was amazingggg!!! I have to say, I usually eat a few bites of the beans, but I really enjoyed these because the beans were well blended in, barely any chunks of bean. And guess what, I ate pretty much everything and I did not feel uncomfortably full or sleepy! Maybe not eating the cheese helped, but this is the first time I have not felt uncomfortable after eating Mexican food. I am so coming back here when I volunteer in the...
Read moreWe had always been happy with the delicious food that La Fonda had prepared but this last time was different. I ordered I believe the number 24 that had a piece of chicken and my husband ordered the plate that had the meat with the rice and beans we waited for about 20 to 25 minutes to get served while families that had come after us were served first. As we waited and we're about to leave the waitress came by and said your dinner is late because you ordered chicken. After another five more minutes she came with our plates and they did not have the regular lettuce and tomato and things that go with each plate. When she told me that it was because I had ordered chicken I did notice that cars kept coming by and picking up chicken orders. That is why we go to La Fonda to eat their grilled chicken. The way the waitress said it was like it was my fault that the food was late. It was disappointing and it will be a long time...
