For years, I have been going to CVS Pharmacy for my shots. A few days ago, I received my Flu and Covid vaccines at CVS, South Plainfield on Plainfield Ave. and on Thursday my Prevnar shot. Whether it was Nikesh or Trivedi, these professionals are efficient, cordial and helpful. On the whole, my experiences at CVS have always been positive. They do the big stuff well. Sixty-seven years ago, as a young college student in Pune, India, I worked after college hours for the largest pharmacy, Macedo Pharmacy, the owner being Louis Macedo, my early mentor, a truly remarkable man. He spoke to each of his hires. â I demand honesty. Each of the meds. is labeled with a priceâOMANBTRUEHâwherein O stands for zero, M for one, N for 3 and so on. H stands for 9 also Honesty. MN/OT is 13 rupees and 5 paisa.â I have often thought of Mr. Macedo and his good deeds. ( This was the fifties in India and this Pharmacy stood like a lighthouse in a sea of corruption. Hopefully, things have improved.) Pharmacies are an important aspect of our well being and CVS has to be commended. And now after this digression, I want to turn to one area which needs attention. When the shots are administered, we are directed to a tiny area(no problem) with low folding chairs, difficult to sit, manageable, but an unnecessary burden and painful to rise. I placed my old coat on a book-rack, next to the chair and my trusted cane on the floor. The shots being given, they went to their other assignments. I hoisted myself to an upright position with all the strength I could muster (my knees cracked) determined never again to take my shots at CVS. DO GET CHAIRS which can be raised by the touch of a button. It may be a minor matter for some, not ALL. One of my favorite writers, a NY Times bestseller, Admiral William McRaven, amplifies this point in âMake Your Bed.â Small things have a significant impact. I recommend it. If I do go back to CVS, I will peek at the Vaccine section and report to YOU.

Read moreMy family has had many negative experiences here in our short time living nearby to this location. We've had at multiple times where the CVS doesn't have the medication in stock. They tell us they'll order it. Then after we call back to check on the status, we find out that their distributor doesn't have the item in stock and that they are unable to obtain it. All with days going by before receiving the necessary medication. We've had to wait hours to get simple flu or tdap shots. The most recent time we went, the pharmacy literally gave us THE WRONG MEDICATION for our 14-month old baby!! They simply did not pay attention to the prescription that they were filling. Thank goodness my wife double checked the bottle, i'd hate to think what would have happened if she did not. A simply inexcusable mistake. When we called to correct it, the pharmacist apologized for not reading the order properly and said it was out of stock and she'd order it. SURPRISE! When i called to check today, they said the distributor was out of stock and they couldn't get it. Never again. I highly recommend going elsewhere. Peter Pan pharmacy in town has been much easier to deal with and has a...
Read moreI would not recommend to anyone this CVS pharmacy on plainfield avenue in south plainfield. Needed a medication for my daughter. First of all they are telling me that they donât have the prescription from the doctor. Called doctorâs office, they told me that it was called in. Then called pharmacy and they are saying no they donât have the script called in from the doctorâs office. When doctorâs office called them, they are telling them that they donât have the medication so thatâs why they didnât dispense it. When I called them back to have rx transfer over to any other Cvs pharmacy who has it. They are saying none of Cvs has it and if I find one and if Needed, they will transfer the rx over. Called multiple other pharmacies around. Found one that had the medication I needed so called cvs pharmacy back and asked them to transfer over to this pharmacy who has the medication. Then I am being told again that They donât have the script and doctorâs office can call it in again to new pharmacy. They need to have better communication.
