Szechuan Kitchen — Restaurant in South Plainfield

Will never go here again. We ordered dinner from here tonight and ordered my usual to go things from a Chinese spot. I knew I should have stuck to my old spot (New China Wok) but something told me let me try a different place plus it's been in town for so long so it has to be good. Well I won't be back...I was charged $80 which was so shocking because I've never bought $80 worth of Chinese food before...it also turns out they don't give you anything free if you meet a certain minimum, which kinda surprised me since I'm so used to that. Word to management if I'm ordering lunch meals and I'm still within the time since lunch specials end at 3pm, you should automatically charge me for the lunch special not for the combo plate which is $2 more (totally ridiculous). Also, their menu doesn't have the lunch specials..they only post a sign inside the restaurant..go figure i guess. The pork fried rice was cold in the center when I scooped it out..like it was just poorly reheated. The chicken lo mein I took a bite of had like sand in it..which completely disgusted me.. I'll cross this place out I suggest you do too before...

I have visited this place for lunch on quite a few occasions. Food is good...everything you would expect at your local Chinese food spot. So I cannot knock them for quality of food. My only complaint is that they seem to cheat you during lunch hours. A few weeks ago, I got a lunch combo w/ a wonton soup, and they only put 2 wontons in the soup! Typically, there are 3 in the soup! This may not be a big deal to some, but to avid wonton soup eaters (like myself), this will hardly ever go unnoticed! I tried to brush it off, and simply considered it as a one-time oversight on their part. However, when I went back a week later, they did the same thing! And this is certainly no coincidence, as when I went back today, I got 2 wontons in my soup AGAIN!! Why is it that they expect for me to pay full price for my food, but then skimp on my wonton! Apparently, you DO NOT get what you pay for! Unsatisfied...

Wish I could give this a zero stars however went and picked up take out tonight and found a roach in my food when I got home. I mediately took it back to the restaurant they apologize however pointed out the certificate of health inspection and asked if I'd like them to make me another chicken fried chicken fried rice. FYI I declined. This is completely disgusting I will never eat here again so sad I've been eating here since my childhood. Wonder how many roaches I've...
