Where to begin?
Let's start with the process. Easy-peasy to use their scheduler, make a change in date. Done.
Then the fitting itself. Connor Murray was assigned to me. The boy knows his stuff! Whether it was the latest equipment, using the Tracer to analyze my swing mechanics, or giving a couple of tips on swing path (without giving instruction, since he doesn't yet have his credential and I don't want to get him in trouble, haha), he knows what he's doing and talking about.
And last, there's the Ethics and Integrity thing. After spending sufficient time watching me, Connor's suggestion was to work a bit on my swing and maybe take a couple of lessons, rather than buying expensive new equipment. He said he could sell me something, but Chris's (Cote, the owner, I presume) philosophy (and his, Connor's, as a credentialed PGM club fitter) is to only sell equipment if it's going to improve what's in the bag. Connor said the clubs I have are excellent, fitted to me, and there's no newer technology that he could sell me that would be an upgrade to what I already own. He gave me a big bucket of balls, his card, and the card of their head pro instructor with a suggestion to set up a couple of lessons.
Call me jaded, but in an age where someone's always trying to sell me something I don't really need, this not only impressed me but has now turned me into a raving fan of his and Chris...
Read moreMy wife signed me up for a golf fitting recently as I have been using the same set of clubs for about 23 years and she thought I deserved something a bit more modern. On the way to Chris Cote's Golf Shop, I was a bit apprehensive as I am not a great golfer. I was a bit concerned of being "in the spotlight" for an hour with someone critically looking at my swing and sapping any confidence I had. Let me tell you, the exact opposite happened. I walked into a smile and Mike Gilette took me to the fitting room. He was fantastic. I am rarely this positive in reviews, but Mike deserved it. He made me feel confident and comfortable the entire time. He answered all the silly questions I had about the clubs he was handing me and the numbers on the screen. Before I knew it, 90 minutes had passed and we had figured out which clubs would benefit me. As a testament to Mike's business acumen (for he has gotten me as a customer for life now), there were opportunities for Mike to have "oversold" me. For instance, we saw no noticable difference between my driver and the drivers he put in my hand, so when I said something to that effect, he confirmed that with my swing, a new driver would not help. He was great. I give him and Chris Cote's Golf Shop my highest praise. I cannot wait until my...
Read moreI have built many sets of clubs and have a good understanding of the dynamics of a club and the swing results. I cannot see my swing as well as I can see another golfer. Trackman is a great piece of equipment for fitting plus swing analysis and I would love to find 15 minutes when the shop would let me take some swings with my NEW driver to learn a few things relative to my swing flaws. With that said, Mike M. did a great job of trying every club available and then narrowing down the best fit for me. The best advertised club on TV is not necessarily the best club for ones individual swing so I entered the process with the mind set that I would get the club that fits based on results, feel and even sound. Mike worked seamlessly with me to put the best fit in my hands and comparing the data from the new club to my existing "old"driver was eye-opening. I can't imagine why anyone would spend good money on a driver or set of clubs without going through the proper fitting process. As an aside, this fitting is 60-90 minutes long and free. The competetion charges $50 for the same thing. If you don't know what Trackman is, search it. It's the best technology out there for monitoring a long list of swing parameters. Thanks Chris Cote for having a great...
