Walgreens — Local services in Southport

When we first moved to the area, this pharmacy was a great place to go. They offered same-day refills, and the staff was generally friendly. However, it seems like this might be a corporate decision, but many of their prescriptions are now filled off-site and not ready until the next day after 2 p.m. This has happened twice already. I submitted a refill for Saturday before 5 p.m. and went to pick it up on Sunday, only to be informed that it was filed off-site and wouldn’t be ready until Monday after 2 p.m. My wife’s prescriptions, which are important, are also experiencing this issue. The doctor submitted both prescriptions, but neither is ready yet. One prescription is filled off-site and will be received 24 hours later, while the other is out of stock and waiting for delivery. As long as the delivery is on time. If the processes have changed, it would have been nice to be made aware of. Unfortunately, communication is not good at all. Granted it was New Year’s Eve, but seriously…

First of all, the drive thru is an “captive” one. That is, if you get tired of waiting (like being the 7th car in line) you cannot pull out and just go inside. You’re blocked by a curb and thus you are committed to the wait. The drive thru also provides a convenient place for someone to hide and rob customers while they wait…and you can’t escape.

Once at the window, I tried to give the attendant my ID. Instead we went through several attempts at understanding my last name (one syllable). Attendant had trouble understanding my name multiple times. This is the whole idea behind presenting my ID…it tends to avoid such problems and speeds-up the process.

This was the final chapter in a week-long effort to get a prescription filled. In the four years I’ve lived here, I’ve tried getting prescriptions filled at Walgreens a couple of times. This was the first time that the effort was actually successful. But when compared to other venues, it just isn’t...

DO NOT USE THIS PHARMACY. This is the worst experience I’ve EVER had with a pharmacy. I am breaking up with them!!!! There is a problem every single time I need medicine called in. They left me without a very important medicine for over a week and I got very sick. It doesn’t matter if you call ahead of time, they most likely will be out of stock. You can also forget about getting anyone on the phone without waiting on hold for a hour (not exaggerating.) Sometimes they are very rude on the phone and I did not feel like they cared much about my situation at all.
