I grew up in Greensboro, NC eating Cook Out countless times lunch, dinner and late night. I was very excited to see a Cook Out coming to our Small Town. I've now tried this new one 4 times and I can't say I am impressed at all. I know times are tough for restaurant owners but this is northing like it used to be. The burgers are significantly smaller in size, sides are constantly under cooked and/or cold. You used to need extra napkins because the sandwiches would be over flowing with toppings. Now I'm lucky to get enough to cover the burger. On a positive note the shakes are still as good as always and make it worth the stop when that's all you want.

I got tray with 2 sides and huge tea on April 6,2024 at 2 pm. Got home and in my tea was a torn part of their refrigeration warranty paper torn in half the way it looked. I had already drank most of the tea. That is nasty. Good thing I ain’t sick. It just happened. We will see if I get sick. They offered a free voucher for more of their stuff. They don’t care if u get sick. It was a talk chubby white boy that handed me my food and tea.

It seems they are the staple fast food in the Southeast of US, but the chain stops in Maryland and so we must try. Four stars for the Reese’s Cup milkshakes. Creaminess that oozes down your body to cool you off and the wonderful taste of peanut butter with cream. Onion rings are b good, too. I preferred it over the fruits. The cowboy burger comes with enough slaw, bbq sauce and a perfect size to not feel bloated.

I was greatly anticipating the opening of cookout in my area and I jokingly commented previously about being hopeful my new favorite restaurant would open sooner than later. Well I was pretty confident about my statement leaning towards the truth of the matter of fact but you never rally know with a new place or new staff and or just in name of getting to know the ropes when you open a new location etc etc the list could go on and on. But Cookout corporate made the whole opening endeavor more like a walk in the park, just another day that an existing restaurant opens like normal but in this case it was hard to deny that they definitely have a formula and there is a reason they are opening new locations probably weekly if not on the daily.

It's because they are good. Better than good. It's no frills, convenient and fast. Delicious and exactly what you want when you need it. They open at a reasonable time and stay open late for the matter of fact of it all. They don't close early because no one showed up they have a standard constitution in place that they must live up to or they wouldn't be doing the good business they are doing. From day 1 they did have some struggles but cookout corporate was quick to address anything brought up to their attention with direct and assertive corrections and they made it more than a mission to meet their customers needs and answer to their shortcomings when addressed to the company directly and they did that in good taste and awesome fashion, very professional.

Not to mention they have the best grilled chicken sandwiches. They have the best milkshakes period and they are fast and it's always every time on point the same. Not only that consistency factor is an A+ for me but I am also pretty sure this location of all the locations I've visited in years past the Southport location definitely does business with precise and metered execution of their craft and they are humbly in first place amongst their own ranks when it comes to doing it right from the beginning. Cudos cookout! Thanks for being there when I need you! Keep up...

My 2nd visit to a cookout, now I remember why I waited so long to try again, forgot how bad it was …ordered a small hamburger tray and had to pick two sides wanted only one then given giant drink I did not order.i ordered ketchup mustard and onion on hamburger. One raw ring of an onion instead of chopped, hard to get onion in every bite that way plus it was sooo slathered with ketchup on both sides of bun and burger and dripping so much mustard I could not taste the meat! Horrible ,took two bites, decided I did not want to wear the condiments on on my clothes today and threw away along with greasy tasteless double fries with no salt . They came with teeny packs of ketchup I had to ask for too, what gives? Give me my homegrown Char grill back in Wake County any day , I do not know how this place stays in business unless you love loads of condiments on burgers …..and the girl order taker could not tell me whether the slaw had mayonnaise which I did not want, another girl said they used lemon juice out of a bottle on it!!!!WHAT!!that told me it was old slaw they tried to renew, Sure did not order that as my second side order after hearing that!!!all the sides were fried or meat...

Today was actually the worst experience I've had at any Cookout location, in Southport. Usually, at all of the other locations the service OR food would be iffy, which is understandable. Sometimes, the food and service are incredible. Today though, was the first time I've had an all around "bad experience" at Cookout though. The drive thru employees were rude and snobby. I figured the food might be good. Its like that sometimes. After I got my food and parked to eat, I picked up my hot dog to take a bite and the whole glizzy fell through the bottom of the bun, rolling down my shirt, leaving a trail of mustard and onions. I pick up the glizzy to toss it back in the bun, because big backs abide by that 5 second rule. Mind ya business!! Anyway I open the bun apart n this thing had more onions that glizzy by a LONG SHOT!!! The bun was literally STUFFED with mustard and onions. To add insult to injury, I only received FOUR cheese bites in my side order. I understand that things are hard and times are tough, but this location really needs to do better. I wasted $7 and mustard stains on a $40 shirt. Thank You Cookout of...
