This may be more of a Slumberland policy change rather than the store but since this happened at this store that is what I am reviewing.
I have purchased many items from Slumberland, was always the Fort Dodge store, but got informed that they can not deliver to my home because the Spencer store is considered my local store. Ok is what it is I suppose, but in the past when I purchased a recliner from the FD store they took the old broken chair, for a charge but I was ok with that due to my disabilities. Fast forward several years to this past Veterans day weekend, we went to purchase a power recliner for the wife who could no longer do a manual recliner. Rather than just a basic power recliner she bought one with all the bells and whistles. When deciding I had mentioned that I would have to move an old chair to put this one in its place. The sales lady offered to have the delivery guys take it, I declined so instead as a discount because they wouldn't have to pick up she gave us free delivery and we bought it. She also said if we ever decide to get another chair to let them know and they will do us right on it and take away if we needed.
So on June 19th, my Slumberland card was paid off and I got an email about chairs so we drove up to this store, salesman was fine no problems and I picked out the chair. We discussed that I would need delivery to the town I live in and haul off the old one. Was told Slumberland doesn't do this, so we didn't purchase this chair.
If this is Slumberlands new policy I have absolutely no problem with this. I understand policies change and salesman didn't do anything wrong. I just hate that just a few months ago they would have taken and in the past they absolutely took, even though different store. It just seems Slumberland changes policies a lot from what store is my local, to whether or not they will pick up old furniture(with a fee). Read moreMy husband and I purchased a new mattress set from Robert at the Spencer location on 12/11/22. Robert’s customer service was fantastic and his communication was top notch! We were told that we’d also get a mattress protector, sheet set and delivery before Christmas. Unfortunately, out of anyone’s control, weather delayed our delivery, but Robert communicated the delays well and delivery was scheduled promptly the week after Christmas. Delivery guys were great- mattresses and mattress protector were delivered and set up with no mess left behind. However the $250 sheet set was not included. I called Robert who apologized profusely, informed me they were on back order but would be there on Thursday (this was on Tuesday) and he would get them delivered ASAP. On Thursday the sheets arrived and a gentleman (no name was given, but it’s Robert’s day off) from Slumberland calls to inform us that our sheets are in and we can come pick them up. However, we live well over an hour away and work during Slumberland’s operating hours. I mentioned my conversation with Robert and this gentleman flippantly apologizes (sounding like quite honestly, it’s not his problem) and tells me we’ll receive our sheets sometime next week. So, now I have a $7500 mattress set that I have to go buy sheets for because we upgraded our mattress size (Queen to king) and have no sheets for the new one. Please know exactly what your warranty covers….Dakton is a terrible salesman, rude, and always trying to make an extra buck!! The mattress was under warranty yet trying to sell a more expensive bed to replace their defect, then wanted sales tax for the new mattress, $170 to deliver and $40 to take their defected one away! Then when he knows you are not happy he tells a person your with that you are not welcome in their store! The whole time the manager is hiding out in his office! I will gladly shop elsewhere, and will definitely check into warranty policies better in the future! What a scam of a warranty policy that they sell you….anywhere else I have purchased products it cost me nothing and is happily replaced with new or fixed correctly!
