One of the most disappointing meal experiences I've ever had! Was in town with extended family who all ordered take out while I was away for a short time. As soon as I was made aware i called to order dinner for take out as well, before everyone's had even been picked up, only to be told they were not taking to go orders. When I informed her that they had just taken the whole rest of my family's she just said they were too busy now. Ouch! Couldn't have added 1 to an order of 5? No way wasn't happening. So I wanted until after what was a large dinner rush (hour+) to go to the restaurant myself to sit down & eat only to find out they were out of prime rib!! If it's the name of your restaurant you should never run out of said item. Crushed, I looked over the menu to settle on the filet WITH scampi & bearnaise which is how it reads on the menu, grilled veg & another side that was sold out, ended up with going with one so underwhelming I can't remember what. Food arrives, the shrimp is off to the side, really quite cold & a bit undercooked, no bearnaise sauce or if I had to order it specifically like the server tried to play off the menu says- double checked before writing this, it says shrimp scampi with bearnaise $10. - then why wasn't it scampi style then at least? Even the grilled veg, no I got steamed at first which was just out the bag previously frozen meh, the remake grilled didn't come out grill crisp, just more meh mushy veg. Between the meal add ons, with the couple specialty drinks I had, which were really good definitely saving grace there & the stuffed crab mushrooms, very good but very oily, the top layer oil slick was pretty deep, with tip i probably spent almost as much as the whole family did combined & it was the biggest disappointment I've had in a meal for as long as I can remember. Hoping someone will see this & not exclude the one family member that was missing in a family's take out...
Read moreThis was one of the most bizarre and surreal dining experiences I've had.
It's been a couple months since I was last here, just keep forgetting to write this review, so maybe something has changed since then.
I ordered three items, burnt ends, a Caesar salad, and Cajun pasta. None of them were good.
The salad was a strange deconstruction that came out as a bunch of whole romaine leaves instead of a proper salad and was more like an appetizer you were expected to dip.
The burnt ends didn't deserve the name as they didn't embody what anyone thinks about when they imagine the dish. Instead of a barbeque dish with a nice caramelized barbeque sauce they had a strange honey sauce and the fat hadn't been fully rendered so there were large chunks of it. It was also served with naan bread for some reason, why not Texas toast?
Lastly the Cajun pasta had a bland sauce and the only Cajun flavor came from these bacon bits rather than being a part of the sauce.
I didn't finish any of it.
None of it was worth what I paid for it.
Maybe I'm partly to blame for not getting prime rib at a restaurant named for it, but the prices on it were a bit excessive when compared to even chain places like Texas roadhouse.
The service was also poor with waitresses standing around chatting with each other or their friends.
My advise? Don't try and reinvent the wheel, there's nothing wrong with serving a typical dish so long as it's done well, especially when you're alternative was a strange version done...
Read moreA wonderful antidote to a long day's drive. The folks at The Prime Rib make you feel at home. It was cold this visit and we had to change tables to get my mother away from the window chill. They were fine with us switching. Our waitress was efficient and friendly. We loved the little loaf of bread and honey butter that came with our meal. We each ordered a half-order of Chicken Ocean, chicken breast on a buttered, grilled English muffin, topped with crab, hollandaise sauce and a couple of asparagus spears. The side of sautéed seasonal veges in butter and garlic was full of color and flavor. Side #2, chicken chili, was more of a soup and nice and hot for a cold night. We enjoyed generous pours of Kim Crawford Pinot Grigio. The ambiance is relaxing with warm, subdued lighting. Full bar and a great looking salad bar. Seating allows for privacy and conversation. The restaurant was decorated for fall. .Clientelle included families, senior citizens and working guys staying in nearby hotels. Casual attire is fine, but you wouldn't look out of place if you dressed up, either. For beef lovers, they only serve top of the line certified Iowa Angus. Put the tallest in your crowd on the couch part of the table as the couches are lower...
