I finally had the opportunity to visit Buttermilk Basin on Friday, October 18th, 2024, after purchasing many kits, patterns, and books over the years. The shop was beautiful and there were so many wonderful displays. However, I walked into the shop, and there was no one around. I walked into the middle room, and there was Stacy, Hannah, and another lady working. I was so excited to meet them, but none of them even bothered to look up and say "Welcome to Buttermilk Basin." So I wandered into the next room and saw a kit that I wanted , but they didn't have any in the baskets, so I asked the ladies if there were anymore kits. Stacy told me to go ask Ginny at the front register, and she could go to the warehouse and get more. When I went to the front, Ginny was helping other ladies. So I went back and found some toweling I wanted that needed to be cut. Once again, I asked the ladies where did I need to go to have the toweling cut, and Stacy told me to go see Ginny. Ginny was the only one trying to wait on customers, cut fabrics, ring up purchases and run to the warehouse to restock items. By now there were several ladies ahead of me that she was trying to wait on. At some point Ginny was trying to cut fabric, and she accidentally knocked down a 2-tier metal display. She told the customer, I will clean it up later after I have waited on you. Stacy came out and saw that it had been knocked down and was on the floor. She asked what happened and noticed that it had been damaged and told Ginny "that it cost me $350." Ginny was apologetic and said her husband could probably fix it. I was appalled by Stacy's behavior and that she would carry on like that in front of customers. Ginny was overwhelmed with having to do everything without any of them coming out to help. I walked out of that shop sooo disappointed and swore I would never purchase another item from her. It left such a terrible taste in my mouth especially after encountering so many friendly people in MN. You would think customers in her shop would be...
Read moreReceived a kit and the backing is no longer included along with the buttons; however the price increased. If you don’t live close by, this is quite a problem. Also the store is cramped with so much everywhere. A display was knocked over by another shopper into me while trying to turn as there isn’t enough space to even walk through safely. I caught it as it fell towards me. The wool prices have not increased if bought separately out of the kit and have the best selection of wool in the area, hands down. Make and takes are not worth the time or money. Price increased from $10 to $15. Pattern was not included, so Project could not be finished, also no instruction was given by Kathy. The cute cookies from prior make and take events are no longer provided. So basically come for a couple hours and teach yourself without a pattern to take home to complete. And I use to love going. Not sure who the employees are as there is nothing that separates them from others. Didn’t know who to ask for a kit/pattern that never could find. Left without purchasing. When first opened it was a cute shop. Still is, just space has already become too small for what is being added. Nonetheless the wool is lovely and only place to buy with great selection in the area. Will continue to...
Read moreYou have a wonderful store with beautifully stitched displays! While visiting family and friends in the area we visited your store. I purchased a kit and when I arrived home, I checked the wool pieces, one was too small for the project. Going back to the store wasn’t an option; I live over 700 miles away. I contacted Buttermilk Basin through their website; days went by and no response. I called the number on their website; days went by and no response. I told my friend of the issue; she went to the store and was able to get the size fabric I needed. Without a local contact I would not have been able to get the fabric I needed. Please consider improving your online customer service for those of us who do...
