Update: The owner I dealt with is no longer with the floral shop. I would give the new owner a chance.
One year update: The owner never did made it right. The "checks in the mail" never got here.
My Momās funeral was August 28. I went to Spring Lake Floral a week before that and ordered an arrangement for her funeral. I wanted white flower, some red roses, with three ribbons that said āMom, Grandma, Great Grandmaā I paid $500 to the owner when I ordered them. I have been using Spring Lake Floral for all of my floral orders since they opened. On the day of the funeral, visitation started at 10:00. I arrived at 9:40. There were no flowers from Spring Lake Floral. I called the store. I got the answering machine 2 times and finally I had someone answer. I explained the situation and was told the owner was on his way in. I called again and was told he was putting the arrangement together and would deliver it shortly. The picture is what I received. I was disappointed. The ribbons say Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma. It looks like they were an afterthought and just poked into the basket. It was not worth $500. There were 5 roses, and, at the most, 15 other stems of flowers. It was in a basket. If I paid $10 for each flower, it would cost $200. If I paid $150 for the basket, it would cost a total of $350. I stopped at the florist after the funeral. I was told that the wholesale place he bought the flowers from had been without power for almost a week (due to a storm) and the flowers were delivered that morning. He offered me a discount on a future order of flowers. I went home and the more I thought of it, the more irritated I got, so I made a post on Grand Haven Informed. THEN I got an apology through messages on Facebook and he said he would make it right. It has been fifteen days since the funeral. He told me last week that my partial refund was in the mail and he offered to send me flowers again. I told him I did not want the flowers. There has been no communication from him since then. My trust in what I thought was a reliable florist is gone. No amount of money can take back what was presented at the funeral. There was no concern to the arrangement, it was just put together at the last minute, and I was charged the full price. I told him that if he had communicated with me, I would have been happy to have used the flowers that he already had in his store instead. Spring Lake Floral is not a place I will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have always referred friends and family to SL Floral. Sadly, this will no longer be the case. SL Floral has always been my go to for flowers, so it only made sense to give them a call for a quote for my January 2024 wedding.
On 5/2, I spoke to them on the phone and gave them an idea on what I was looking for, I was asked to send them an email with details and they would be able to give me a quote. They seemed confident that they would be able to do what we were looking for and were super helpful. I received an email back on 5/4, advising they would have the quote to me by the end of the week.
On 5/11, I still had not heard back, so I gave them a call and was told they had been busy with Mother's Day orders but they would get the quote out within a few days.
By 5/30 I hadn't received the quote that was promised so I emailed them once again with no response. On 6/2, I called the store and was told it would be to me by the end of the day. I still have not received a quote or any communication as to why.
I called yesterday and left a message on their answering machine requesting a call back or an email if this was something they did not want to take on. I have yet to get any response, via email or phone.
I understand this can be a busy season with Spring/Summer weddings and graduations, but the lack of communication and unfulfilled promises is what killed it for me. Please don't tell someone you will have something to them and not follow through. Very disappointing. Only giving them 2 stars because Bill's time spent on the phone with me the first phone call was helpful...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI will never shop here again. I pride myself in supporting local businesses, so I was happy to visit my towns local florist. I visited their shop a day before I needed a bouquet. Paid $100 in advance and asked for them to be ready by noon the next day.
Today I arrived at 12:05pm and asked to pick up my order. The woman looked surprised and lost at my request. She only started to put it together when I arrived.
Then, after waiting, she approaches me and states, "Listen, I'm going to be honest. I miss read the ticket and placed it in a vase. Is that okay?" Smh....no it's not, I am traveling and so is my date.
Needless to say, what I got looks like what you'd expect for something slapped together last minute.
Thanks for wasting my...
