Kiwami Japanese Cuisine — Restaurant in Spring Lake Township

Decorated nicely, like the atmosphere, I did a takeout order, the hibachi steak and a spicy tuna roll. The sushi, miso soup, and vegetables the steak came with were good. The steak unfortunately was pretty bad, overcooked even though I asked for medium rare when ordered online (it was an option), tough, chewy, and just didn’t have good flavor which is unfortunate because i was looking forward to having a hibachi option so close to me. The fried rice could have been better too, just not a lot of flavor there. I have had good and bad hibachi and if the steak was better I’d call this pretty good but I just can’t. I will probably just use this place as a sushi place from now on if I go. People seemed nice but again I just did takeout.

My husband I decided it was high time for a sushi night, but didn’t feel like driving out to Grand Rapids for our usual spot. We saw Kiwami in Spring Lake and absolutely had to try it. Our waiter was so welcoming and kind and although the space is small, the atmosphere is very welcoming. They are short staffed right now, so they gave us an appetizer of edamame on the house while we waited for our food and it was delicious. When our sushi came to our table a very short while later, the presentation was absolutely beautiful and so fun. But OMG! Ordered 4 special rolls and some edamame to go for my mom and myself. We got the Dragon roll, Dragon King roll, Michigan roll, and the Monkey roll. I’m not sure we got what we ordered, though, as one with salmon on top was spicy (none of our orders were spicy) and one had a sweet yellow sauce on top. Well, whatever we got, we enjoyed. Picked up during off hours so it was enough except for the family, including 2 adorable young boys. Would return, and next time eat in the restaurant during dinner time. Maybe in the upstairs area.
