This review is for the second floor of the St. Luke's Springwood Village hospital where they perform various procedures. We had a very unfortunate experience with a particular nurse there. Even though I know her name, I'm not going to publicly disclose it because I do respect her privacy. My dad went in for a procedure. This is the very first time that he would be sedated, and naturally we were very anxious. My dad also has confirmed diagnosis of respiratory disease, which is clearly documented in his medical records. In fact he sees a St. Luke's pulmonologist. I asked the nurse if there is any way that I can ask if the medical professionals performing the procedure and the post-op care nurse will be willing to wear a mask due to his respiratory disease and the high risk of being very ill from any infections such as Covid. The nurse immediately snapped at me and stated that no one can make them wear a mask because the hospital no longer required staff to wear masks. Her reaction was so uncalled for and obviously very political in nature. I was shocked and speechless for a few seconds. First of all, I did not ask HER to wear a mask. I did not in any way demand or try to force anyone to do anything. I am of the belief that everyone has the right to choose what is best for them. I did not think that simply asking a question out of concern for my dad would have warranted such an unkind and petty response. This nurse became irate after I asked her a simple follow up question. I asked what they do for patients that are immune compromised and need extra care or precautions to be taken. You know what her response was? She said verbatim while staring me down "we have seen patients sicker than your dad." What she meant was our concerns are invalid and irrelevant and she doesn't have to answer that question. She also said that her grandparents got Covid and nothing happened to them. Okay I'm very relieved that that was the case, but what does that have to do with us? Even though Covid is not as severe as before, but a percentage of people who catch Covid can still have very severe symptoms or worse, die from it. This is fact, and I couldn't believe she was trying to tell us anecdotal stories to prove a point. I almost wanted to cry because I was just so worried about my dad and she was being so very unkind, almost callous. All I wanted was for him to be safe. But she could not hide the disdain on her face at that moment. Imagine your loved one is going in for a procedure about to be sedated and this is the nurse that is taking care of them. She showed no compassion or understanding, which is so ironic considering that St Luke's is supposed to be a Catholic establishment with Christian values. In comparison, when the anesthesiologist and the surgery nurse came in, they were so professional and had no issues with asking the other medical professionals to wear a mask as a precaution. It just made it so obvious that this selfish nurse only cares about her own politics and that she has no qualms about causing her patients undue stress and potential harm. I've just never encountered such an unethical healthcare professional. What happened to her hippocratic oath? I was hesitant to write this review for fear of retaliation if we were to go back to the hospital for any further treatment. However I thought about it long and hard, and I feel very strongly that this nurse really needs training on bedside manners, empathy, and basic medical facts. One other issue that showed the lack of care by St Luke's Springwoods Village is that they rushed us out of post-op observation without disclosing to us that my dad could potentially have trouble urinating after the sedation. So when we got home and he couldn't urinate for hours we were very concerned. I called the number that the nurse gave me many times and NO ONE ever picked up despite their claim that this was supposedly the on-call number. We received a callback 3 HOURS later telling us to contact my dad's primary care doctor. There is absolutely no...
Read moreI am sad to see everyone who had a bad experience here but my experience here yesterday was great! I was sent to the ER after the RediClinic wasn’t able to help me yesterday afternoon. She recommended I go to the ER right away for an ultrasound for my persistent abdominal pain. I was weary about going, worried about the wait times, treatment, etc. but from the minute I walked through the door, the staff was extremely kind and pointed me in the right direction. I was in and out of here in just a few hours! Way better than I expected. Elizabeth at the front helped me check in with ease and even had a great conversation with me. I didn't even have to wait and they took me back right away. Ms. Scarlett Angie was my RN I believe, helping Dr. Spartz and they took wonderful care of me. Dr. Spartz and his team are very knowledgeable and they made sure to explore every avenue to research and take care of my pain. The x-ray and radiologist specialist who took me into the x-ray rooms and did all my x-rays was kind and easy to talk to. He made me feel comfortable even though I was afraid. They mentioned they called the ultrasound tech & she was about an hour ETA but it didn't even take her that long to arrive and take my ultrasound at all. She was also very kind to me. I even had an allergic reaction to one of the medications that I was being given through the IV (I wasn't aware I was allergic to this medication until yesterday obviously) and Ms. Scarlett Angie made sure to take care of me ASAP when I called for help. She, Dr. Spartz & the x-ray specialist helped me remain calm, because I was starting to panic and get scared. Scarlett Angie came to check on me every so often, which made me feel great because I was all alone. I truly felt like they cared about me, wanted to figure out what was wrong with me and how to help with the pain. All of the staff I had interactions with were very accommodating, knowledgeable and caring. I recommend coming here if you have an emergency. You are in...
Read moreI came I today and was taken quickly and the nurse were very professional and Curious. The attending physician was arrogant, rude and I had never meet a doctor with such horrible bed side manners... I told him few days prior I had been to another hospital for treatment but my symptoms had worsened. He said why did I just go back to the other hospital. I was floored many reasons why! Not the point I went to his hospital for treatment...! He seemed pissed off and was no patient and I felt he didn't want to treat me! I felt so discriminated. He asked me if I was on drugs or did drugs... because of my boils on my body. If he would of taken the time to properly ask about my history, and why...? He asked what it kind of insurance I had and I am visiting from out of town. I told him I didn't have medical insurance (as of June 1,2017)
The wound I had wasn't even cleaned he just looked at it and said it was fine and walked out... he said he would refer me to a specialist in the area. The nurse gave me his referrals and the referrals were basically Texas government Medical centers- that have social workers that can assist with Medicare or Medicade.. said the nurse.
I feel I was not given a treatment or further help because I didn't have insurance. I cried my all the way home I couldn't believe how Uncompassionate he was....never in my life have I felt so uncared by a doctor. Not to mention I was still in a...
