I love MOD but I don't think we'll be back to this location because they seem unsanitary. We came in and were standing there for 2 - 3 minutes while the guy was cleaning off the dirty counter with a rag while wearing gloves. When he began making our food, he did not change his gloves. Those rags are incredibly dirty and probably full of bacteria (not to mention any chemicals used to clean). The moment you start handling a non-food item your gloves should be changed.
Additionally, this is the only MOD we've had an issue when it comes to food allergies. My boyfriend was ordering the gluten-free crust and informed of his allergy. The guy then says "It's gluten free but not wheat-free so I wouldn't want to risk it." We've been to MOD many times but somehow we know more about the food than the employee because the website literally says it does not contain wheat. Firstly, he did not change his gloves like every other MOD store does in order to avoid cross-contamination. We've never even had to ask an employee to change their gloves - they just follow basic food safety. So, he grabs a tray from behind that was sitting in flour to begin making my boyfriend's food. My boyfriend politely asked him if he could use a clean tray (which again they have done at EVERY MOD we've been to). The guy then says, "Well, that's what I'm saying. Wheat flour gets everywhere and we can't guarantee there won't be cross-contamination." The employee then proceeds to demonstrate by taking his glove and wiping it across the glass to collect wheat dust and show us. I've never encountered a more incompetent employee with such a lack of food safety knowledge. We usually tip and this was the one...
Read moreI ordered a pizza a couple days ago, I was told it would be ready in 15 minutes. Arrived at curbside and was told my pizza would be ready in 20 additional minutes because they were busy. The employee I spoke with was borderline rude and seemed to rush me off the phone. The pizza wasn't very tasty, the chicken could have been cooked through more, the roasted garlic tasted raw, there was very little sauce or cheese. I completed a survey and was sent a coupon for a free pizza. So today, I go in an order my pizza. The guy behind the counter was waiting on a customer ahead of me. He didn't have on a mask and was coughing, although he had on gloves, he kept resting his hands on the counter, moving containers that were cluttering the counter, and putting his hand on his stained shirt. I told him i had a coupon, he said he didn't know anything about coupons to talk to the manager. I asked him to put on a pair of new gloves before he made my pizza, at this point the manager rudely asked me what was the problem. The guy did not change his gloves. As he was making my pizza I asked for more toppings because he was skimpy with them, he had an attitude. The customer before me, the customer behind me, and myself all made a complaint to the manager. The manager was rude and didn't respond to any of us, he basically ignored us and began talking to the employee saying that he was sorry he kept him at work so long and over extending him. Needless to say I WILL NOT...
Read moreUpon entering Mod, I was met with the enchanting aroma of flour, tomato sauce, and the signature scent of a hipster joint. I immediately anticipated a correspondent experience during my meal, and luckily my expectations were particularly met. From the photo collage of other locations and employees, to the collage of Mod-certified stickers lining the counters highlighting satisfied customers, the overall aesthetic of a personal touch presented itself to me like a friendly neighbor welcomes an old friend to his backyard-barbecue. Hygiene and wellness were in good condition: bathroom clean, tables clear, wonderful breathing conditions, etc. One potential problem i noticed was that the doughman was not wearing a hairnet, but a beanie, revealing a few loose hairs. My worries were easily dismissed, as I found no hair on my Mega Dough Mad Dog pizza, and the beanie continued to add to the overall hipster presentation. Further on the hipsterness of Mod, the wooden tables, low hanging lights, and alternative classic rock lingering faintly in the background all add to this pleasant visit. While the pizza is fairly priced for its quality of ingredients and overall taste, the beverages seemed overpriced, a reserved $2 for only 16 oz. of choice soft drink. In conclusion, Mod is a great place to visit for good food and pleasing visit. I rate...
