Absolutely HORRIBLE experience and customer service. I bought a fridge for my new house that had been âtested,â but when I brought it home, it didnât cool down and the water didnât work. I talked to the owner who seemed really nice at first, but it became clear that he would not help me.
Even with a 1 year warranty, he refused to come out to my house and continued to lie and argument with me over text about when he would deliver a replacement or fix my current fridge. I took several hours off of work to troubleshoot for him so he could save a trip to my house (per his request), but he still refused to come and honor the warranty. I even picked out another fridge to try and save them inconvenience and was told they would deliver, but then found out their delivery guy was out of town for the week after already paying more money for a replacement.
When I tried to get firmer and stand up for myself, demanding that they honor their 1 year warranty or delivery a new fridge free of charge, the owner blamed the issue on my house without even coming to see it. He then told me I had to return the fridge within 3 days and he refused delivery service, or I would not get a refund.
Finally I paid a delivery service to return the fridge and have filed a complaint with the BBB to have Open Box pay the delivery fee. I bought a new fridge from Loweâs and everything works perfectly, proving that it was never an issue with my house.
I have left out so many details because this is already a long review, but bottom like is that they will intentionally sell you a broken fridge, lie about having a 1 year warranty, blame you for issue without doing their due diligence to check, and act beyond unprofessional. No doubt they have already put my broken fridge up for sale again for the next sucker looking for a good deal.
Edit in Response to Owner Comment: He did not ask a few simple questions. He spent hours asking me the same questions over and over because he did not believe my answers. There was no false accusations, or threats. I told him I would report him to the BBB if he didn't honor his warranty, which I did, and is the proper step to take when a business is unethical. If he didn't want to come to my house, he could have paid for a delivery service to come instead to honor the warranty. My father was nice enough to go and buy my fridge while I was unpacking the house I just bought, and then I paid him for the fridge. I asked my dad if he ever got in contact with Open Box and apologized for my behavior as the owner stated, and he did not.    Read moreI bought a defective clothes dryer from them. W hen I purchased this item they told me that they test all of their products and it was OK. I live in an adjoining county and they wanted to charge me an exorbitant 150.00 to deliver it. I had to refuse which meant they had to load it sideways in my SUV. Which when I got home discovered a large dent on the loaded side. This really made me angry. I decided to hook it up anyway. When I turned it on it had a terrible banging noise on the dented side. Upon touching this side it was hot as a skillet. My family and I were afraid of it. I loaded it back up and took it back . After explaining to them the problem I had they refused to take it back and refund my money. I am now having to go through a dispute with my credit card company to try to block this purchase.
