A good portion of the staff are not very outgoing and somewhat unpleasant to deal with. I can't remember the one fellas name, but he is just downright rude. When it comes to any TCG the prices are slightly more than other shops I've found in the area. A month ago or so CSW made a Facebook post stating they had just gotten some Lorcana product in. It was tough to find at the time so as soon as I saw the post I headed to the store in hopes of getting some stuff for my daughter and I. Upon arriving I noticed the price of the trove boxes were marked up to $150. MSRP is roughly $50. I asked the clerk why they were so expensive and he stated that they had to use a different supplier and the prices reflected that. Fair enough. When I got home I noticed someone comment on said Facebook post asking what the prices are for the items. I responded and to my surprise our comments were deleted shortly after. I decided to return to the store the next day to pick up some other booster packs and see if any of the trove boxes have sold. Guess what? The trove boxes were still there and the prices were now marked down. Just one day after they put them on the shelves! I left the store without buying anything. I do not trust this store and needless to say they will never receive another penny from me.
Edit: To be clear your employee was rude way before Lorcana was released. This was on multiple occasions. Also I am in no way affiliated with any card store let alone any store for that matter. I've had way better experiences in other stores. Your store is simply not as good as the other stores in more way than one. I'll bump you from 2 stars to one since you can't take the review like an adult and have to try and squirm your way out of a customer's...
Read moreI can give comic store west one star based entirely on inventory. They sell good stuff and the layout of the store makes sense. The rest of my review is going to to be about the staff, and why I will no longer shop here, ever.
In the times I've been to this location, I've encountered two employees. One is a woman. She's great, no complaints.
The gentleman who works here? Not so much. I've frequented a good dozen card and comic shops in a variety of cities, and he is by far the worst I've had the misfortune of dealing with. Truly, it's like he doesn't realize that I'm trying to spend money.
Once or twice I can forgive, but every single time I've been to this store, both me and my wife have been treated like we are inconveniencing him by being there. I'm not asking for difficult or inconvenient things. I'm asking about magic the gathering singles, graphic novel releases, and things in cases I can't access.
On what would become my final visit to this location, I came in on a whim because I happened to be in the area. I thought I might see about getting some magic the singles to finish out a deck I had been working on. All told I was prepared to spend about 50-60 dollars on a variety of singles from recent sets. I paid and left after asking about two cards due to the outright hostility I was experiencing.
The negativity that my wife and I were being subjected to was totally inappropriate for someone just browsing, let alone a paying customer.
In summary: If you happen to catch this store when he's not working, good for you. Otherwise, be prepared to be treated like a nuisance and an annoyance when you're trying to give this guy your money. I'll not be returning and will be encouraging all my friends to...
Read moreWasn't very impressed, unfortunately. Came all the way over from Lancaster with my wife on a Tuesday for what was advertised as a board game night. We went inside and told the lady we were interested in euro-style board games. She was very disinterested, never bothered to tell us it was board game night (in case we didn't know), and gestured at the single row with board games. I had to specifically ask if there were any demo units, another thing she never volunteered.
The demo section was very disappointing. With just a handful of beat up products it was worthless as a method of letting us look at games we were interested in buying.
One group of people were at a table playing a game. Compared to other comic stores I've been to, they were hardly what I would call friendly. Asking how they were doing, what they were playing, and if they enjoyed it barely elicited a handful of grunts.
I had one hope remaining, and that was the board game selection itself, where my wife and I were hoping to buy 1 or 2 euro-style board games out of Ora Et Labora, La Havre, Castles of Burgandy, or Twilight Struggle. Unfortunately their selection was abysmal. If you go BoardGameGeek and look at the top 20 titles, you'll find maybe 2 of them on their shelves.
Maybe this place is good for comics, but I won't be coming back for...
