Planet Fitness — Local services in Springettsbury Township

WARNING!!! I was looking into getting a Planet Fitness membership for 4 months; that is all I need it for. The more I looked the more predatory this "low cost" gym appears. 1) The startup fee on special is $0.24 and the low tier plan is $10 per month. So far so good, but things quickly take a turn. 2) You cannot sign up at the gym, you must download the mobile app. Okay, whatever? 3) The app requires a lot of unnecessary information for a gym membership. I looked up their privacy policy online. Big surprise, they are selling your information to data brokers. You should expect a ``sharp increase of spam calls, emails, and flyer in the mail. 3) You must give Planet Fitness a credit card number and direct access to your bank account as well. Weird for a gym right! This makes it easier for Panet Fitness to keep billing after you stop going. 4) There is a $40 annual fee. An obvious way to hide some of the cost of membership. 5) Planet Fitness advertises “Cancel anytime.” However, this gets complicated. 6) You cannot just quit on the mobile app like you signed up. You must fill out a specific letter that you must then either deliver to the gym or mail in as a certified letter. By adding these steps they add delay to the cancellation process which mean they keep building you 7) The letter must contain your social security number and driver license number; neither of which are part of the application that I can tell. This is necessary, so what are they doing with that information? 8) You will be billed a cancelation fee of $14, and another $58 if you cancel within the first year 9) You are likely to be charged for the month following the cancellation as well depending on when they process the...

If I Could Give This Place A 0 Star I Would. Today I’ve Experienced The Worst Customer Service I’ve Ever Endured. I Faithfully Pay For Planet Fitness Every Month Knowing I Won’t Be Judged Or Critiqued. Today Planet Fitness Had Judged Me To The Point Where They Lied On My Name Saying I Cursed Out Two Of Their Teammates When That Information Was False. I Was Told To Stop Singing In The Gym Cause People Could Hear Me I Was Keeping It Down After Something Was Said Then Got Up To Leave & The Same Planet Fitness Employee Walked Up To Me & Said “Dude Come On” As I Was Leaving, I LEFT !! No Argument & No Harsh Words. I Get A Call Moments Later Saying I Disrespected A Black Employee & A White Employee When There Was Never A Black Employee Involved. They Canceled My Membership Without Even Consulting Me & Hearing What I Had To Say. All I Want To Know Is How Is This Gym Critic Free If Your Employees Judge Us & Lie On Our Names Id Never Disrespect My Elders I Don’t Know Why The Employee Decided To Lie Like That & Try To Bring Another Employee Into It. If You Cannot Reinstate My Membership Please Don’t Charge Me For April Thank You & I Would Like An Investigation Launched On Who Was Working That Hour Because Lying On Customers Names Aren’t Right & You’ll Lose A lot Of Money That Way Because After Today I Don’t Think Y'all Deserve A Dime Of What I Paid...

Trash cans regularly overflowing, paper towel dispensers left empty, bathrooms are dirty. I have observed that a number of homeless people use this location as a temporary place to shower. Nothing wrong with that, just be aware. The last two times I went there was no soap to wash your hands in the mens bathroom and the last time they had just removed the soap dispensers from the wall and replaced them with nothing. When I asked the front desk they just shrugged like "that's how we roll now". So... people just go #2 and them walk around using equipment without washing their hands? What about employees?? Truly disgusting.

In addition to the soap, the water bottle dispenser was out of order the last time and the only way to get water was to buy bottled from the people at the desk who have no way to properly wash their hands.

The gym is very crowded at peak hours expect a long wait jostling with a bunch of young kids/teens to use a bench after work. On the bright side a membership is half the price of any other gym in the area and it is 24/7.
