Once upon a time in retail: People would greet you when you walked into the store. Associates were trained to over-greet someone who might be trying to shoplift. This would let a would-be shoplifter know “we see you” and hopefully deter them. White associates in your stores do not treat black customers with the same dignity and respect they do white shoppers. White associates and others, employed by Big Y, don’t acknowledge black customers the same way they do white customers. At this particular location white and other associates strategically position themselves to watch and make sure you pay at self-checkout, having never greeted them. This morning, January 23, 2025 at about 6:30 a.m., after work, I stopped at the Tower Square express location to pick up a few items. I finished shopping and went to check out. Instead of coming over and saying, “did you find everything ok?” and making me feel like a human being who is welcome in your store, a female associate scurries over to start tasking three paces away. This isn’t the first time! Dear Big Y, when will your white & other employees stop treating black people, WHO BUY, like criminals!!!!? Is the D’Amour family looking for a boycott? You’re definitely pushing it. As a black person who never steals, I’m sick of the second-class treatment I experience in most of your stores. I get better service at Aldi and I pay less money for the same basics. You may tout yourself as a “world-class” supermarket but your customer service to non-white patrons is a tremendous...
Read moreThe people are nice. However I've noticed they don't run the same sales other big y store have. Honestly I don't think I've ever seen anything on sale at this location.
Their opening hours are 6AM, I've been there numerous of times and the inside entrance in tower square doesn't open. I asked them about that, the girls said that its because they are understaffed and cant open the inside of tower square entrance. However there has been NUMEROUS of times when there are SEVERAL employees working while the inside entrance has the gate down. If you're NOT GOING TO OPEN up at the time you're supposed to, THAN...
Read moreWent and bought sushi today, sept 13th, and there was literally plastic in it… went back to return it, showed them a picture of the plastic and they very clearly did not care in the slightest. They then went back to having a side conversation while I was standing there waiting for my money back (the general manager and self checkout manager). When I left the general manager proceeded to side eye me like some kind of criminal. I think the guys name was mike or something. This place blows don’t go here, the photo attached is what I removed from my mouth after eating 2-3 rolls of the spicy...
