Eh, alright, listen up. You look like you've been walkin' for a week. Let me help ya out. You gotta get past this here bagel shop, the one with the cracked window and the neon sign that's always flicker'n. Take a right after that. Not a sharp right, a gentle one, like you're tryna sneak a cannoli outta the box without anyone seein'. You'll see a fire hydrant that's been painted purple. Don't ask me why, it's a long story. After that, ya just gotta keep walkin' straight. Can't miss it. Fuhgeddaboudit.
Ah, now hold on, pal, I'm seein' somethin' in your face like you didn't quite get that, am I right? A'ight, let's try this again. You go by the deli, right, the one where the guy with the big mustache is always yellin' at the mailman? Take a left there, not a right, a left! It's important. Go down the block 'til ya see the stoop with the three cats on it. They're all lookin' at ya like they know ya, but they don't, ya know? Hang a left at the cats, then ya just keep goin' 'til ya see the place with the statue of the fish. Ya got it? A fish statue! It's a landmark, a classic!
Waddaya lookin' at me like dat for? Ya still don't get it? Jeez, ya must be tired. A'ight, listen real good this time, 'cause I ain't sayin' it again. Go by the place with the green awning, ya know the one? The one that's got the loud music comin' outta it on a Tuesday afternoon? Yeah, dat one. You hang a right after dat, and I mean a real quick right. Don't dilly-dally. Ya go down, ya pass the dude sellin' pretzels, ya see the building with the brick and the thing on the corner? Ya just go past dat and then ya gotta find the thing with the other thing, and it's right there! Ya get me? The thing!
Ey, what's with da face? You still lookin' at me with that blank stare. It's not that hard! A'ight, a'ight, a'ight. I'll break it down for ya, real simple. Ya go... ya go past the... the thing... ya know? The thing that's right there, by the... the... the other thing! Ya gotta turn right there, see? Not left, right! And then ya go past the... the other thing and then ya go straight! Straight, ya hear me? And then ya just go... ya just gotta go! And then ya see the... the thing! The thing! Ya can't miss it! Ya gotta go! What? What are ya lookin' at me like that for? Go!
Mmm'wazzamatta? Y'don't... y'dont get it? Mmm... m'go... m'go... past da... da... da... da thing, right? The thing! The one with da... da... da... thingy on it! And ya go right! Right! Not left! Right! And then ya go... ya go... ya go... ya go by da... da other... da... da... da... da... da... da... da da da da! An' ya see the... the... the thing! The thing! Da! Wha's the matter wit' ya? Get! Get goin'! Da! Da thing! M'go! M'go! Go! Go! Go! Go! Go!...
Read moreThis Doctor Seuss museum is part of a five museum complex. The Doctor Seuss museum is small but very entertaining, excellent for children. There is an outdoor Dr. Seuss sculpture garden which is enjoyable but not huge. We adults could cover that museum and sculpture garden in about an hour or so.
As art lovers, we pushed our way through the two art museums in about 2 hours, only because we had a rather tight time schedule... The collections range from Chinese body armor, ancient sculptures, 19th century American art, and lots more!
The science museum had nice exhibitions on dinosaurs, rocks and minerals, hey display on Africa featuring African plains animals, and life-size dioramas of northeastern American wildlife. Very nice.
The Springfield history museum was a very pleasant surprise, with information about the many businesses that arose in the Springfield area, including friendly's, Smith & Wesson, Indian motorcycles, the fact that Rolls-Royce's were manufactured for a while in Springfield, and much more. They have a large space for traveling exhibits--this one was on toys and games, which offered a full hands-on experience for children of all ages! Wish we had scheduled a little more time for...
Read moreWent there on Dr. Seuss’s Birthday weekend from metro Boston area. There are total 5 museums in the area, but only Dr. Seuss’s museum is worth visiting. Therefore, the tickets are timed-tickets.
The Dr. Seuss’s museum is very colorful. It has lots of wonderful visual stimulation to young kids. The museum has basement, main floor and second floor, but only the main floor is worth spending time there. To re-entry, you need to get new timed-tickets (free, but new tickets), which is very inconvenient and time-consuming.
The birthday celebration activities were poorly planned with poor quality. No clear map and directions to the activity locations. For people who are not familiar with those museums, it is very hard to find the room. With no clear announcement of the show times, it is hard to plan the day. Just imagine to drag kids running around all those 5 museums.
The staffs at the museums were not helpful or friendly. It’s a waste of time asking them for directions. It’s like they are not accustomed to a large crowd like this.
Bottom line, the Dr. Seuss’s museum is only worth to go once. We...
