Bob Keefer Center — Local services in Springfield

I've been a member of BK Center for the past year. It's a great place to meet people especially if you're retired, exercise, learn new skills like Yoga, Pilates, lifting weights, Nia, Tai Chi. In accordance with Willamalane Adult Activity Center one can join art, sewing, & social classes. Bk has a small fitness center with various weights, machines (treadmill, stationary bikes, elliptical, etc. with TVs on the walls, male & female locker rooms with lockable combination lockers & showers & more bathrooms. It has hard wood floor areas for tennis, pickle ball & basketball. Special events such as gymnastic, soccer meets are hosted there. Parking is free. Next to the building are a couple of artificial soccer fields & walking path around fields with bathrooms & outdoor exercise & playground areas. BK has various preschool programs. Pros: variety of classes for adults & children, fitness center. Great staff! Free parking. Online website & payment system. Free schedules & booklets. Outdoor fields & workout areas. It's a great facility for Springfield to enjoy. However, the management staff at the front desk is incredibly rude. If you show up and you're 10 minutes early with nobody on the court they will pull you off and make you sit in the lobby. We've even been told to leave when it was out time on the court until they realize they really never checked the time... Just assumed we were in the wrong.

When I come in no one acknowledged me. I typically wait while everybody is talking in the back and not acknowledging me at all. No smiles... It seems when the manger is in people are in fear.

We rent out courts for staff to get exercise and do some team building. It just sets a really bad mood to have such bad customer service and a non-welcoming environment right at the front desk. I hope in the future there will be a more inviting environment for those who are paying to use the facilities...And not penny pinch every second on the clock or hassle people unnecessarily. pretty disappointing that all those ppl get paid to run the willamalane programs but not one of them can figure out how to schedule the autopay billing so that it doesn't come out on the first BEFORE peoples income is deposited. There IS a way to schedule charges to come out ANY DAY OF THE MONTH PPL NEED but they refuse to even try to figure it out. I had an overdraft because my ssi income came in AFTER this place took out the monthly fee; on the SAME DAY (the first). I asked them to change the payment date & was told they can't. lazy response. As we all know, this can be done & IS done. I know another senior with ssi who doesn't have a membership for the same reason. so because lazy employees refuse to figure out how banking/payments work for customers, we are robbed of community &...
