As a loyal Giant customer of over 25 years, I am deeply disappointed by the horrible experience I recently had at the Springfield VA Giant. I visit this store biweekly and have spent thousands of dollars on groceries over the years. However, during my latest visit, I was treated with disrespect and accused of stealing.
After checking out and paying for my groceries at a Giant cashier, I was confronted at the door by a security employee named Mary. She accused me of theft, verbally assaulted me, and locked my cart, preventing me from leaving. This was despite the fact that my purchase included wine, which required ID verification at checkout—clearly confirming that I had paid for my items. Additionally I provided the receipt as proof of purchase.
As a Black veteran and a regular customer of this store, I am appalled by the way I was treated. It was not only humiliating but also discriminatory. No other customers appeared to be subjected to this kind of treatment.
When I requested to speak with a manager, Maha Imani, I explained the situation and expressed my concerns about being unfairly singled out. Yet, instead of resolving the issue, Mary continued to verbally assault me in front of others. This kind of behavior reflects a lack of professionalism and respect from Giant’s security and employees.
As a customer, I have the right to voice my dissatisfaction without being harassed. The treatment I endured was unacceptable and has left me feeling disrespected and unwelcome. Giant has failed to uphold the values of fairness and courtesy that its customers deserve.
As a result, I will no longer spend my money at this location. I hope Giant takes this incident seriously and works to ensure no other customer experiences such mistreatment...
Read moreWonderful Customer Service!!! I went to Giant Food grocery on Springfield Plaza shopping centers to get some sparking water before they close on November 20th late evening. I got the items that I need including sparking water and went to check out register to find out I didn't have my wallet with me. I really needed the items before they close and trid to pay with virtual credit cards or Gpay, but none of them seem to work for me. The cashier asked for help from customer service and young lady name Ager came to the rescue. She really tried her best to help me resolve the issues I had with the Gpay and virtual Credit card, but nothing seams to work. She saw my frustration and realized that I really needed the items. She paid for it out of her pocket and she said it is okay. I told her I will pay you back tomorrow and paid her back. She's truly an awesome and generous person ❤️ to that kindness and she doesn't know me. She went above and beyond with her customer service. Thank you so much for your help and kindness 🙏 ❤️ 😊 God bless you and your...

Self checkout is a nightmare - the scales are so sensitive that it's impossible to bag as you go without getting locked out. The problem with the wifi sensing to the shopping carts seems to have been worked out. In addition to the scale, they're recording self-checkout. Now you can get locked out for multiple items, and you don't find out till you have to pay. It only registers things after you scan, so it makes no sense to steal after you're on the hook to pay. But the cherk has to come over and review the tape of you checking out, spot the items the computer missed, then clear them one by one. If their theft problem is this bad, they need to close self checkout. Their digital coupons are also problematic. It's something you'd better have set up before you get there, and scan with the QR code when you find the item. The people at self-checkout are no...
