We went into OP hardwoods to look for a unique piece of wood for a little project we were planning. While in their shop on Friday, January 24th Joe showed us around and we ended up picking a piece of sycamore wood. We asked for their help with the project and Joe told us that Evann was the one to talk to. We showed Evann the piece we liked and he verbally quoted us a price for the wood itself and also the labor to get the job done. We asked for them to hold the wood for 24 hours and called back on Saturday to tell them to go ahead and get the ball rolling. Evann said it would be about a 2 week turnaround and that he would email us a work order on Monday to finalize it all. After not hearing from him, we called to see what was going on. They said he was just very busy, but asked for us to email him first and he would respond with the work order. We agreed and emailed him Monday evening. We did not hear from them on Tuesday or Wednesday and tried calling each day, but the excuses just kept going... Evann is busy, he can’t talk right now, he just left. Finally, on Thursday, we called again and talked to Joe, who said that he had talked to Evann and had pricing. We were already verbally quoted so this didn’t make sense in itself. We asked why Evann wouldn’t return our calls or emails, and Joe really didn’t have an answer. Joe then told us the quote was now nearly DOUBLE of what we were originally told. He said the piece of wood was bigger than they thought, and that it was going to take more time to build. Wow! I can’t believe this is how this company does business. Joe then told us that we could just buy the wood and that they were fine with that. It’s obvious they do not want our business which is fine... why would anyone buy from them when this is how they treat their customers. We will look elsewhere!...
Read moreI had a wonderful shopping experience when I visited the other day. The business sign was on the ground so i passed the place twice before finding it, but it was worth it. The rough cut lumber is in the back and they have quite the selection. I was only really there for some beech for making hand planes, so i didn't check out every row of available species, but they have a lot to choose from. Also check out their cutoffs section. Plenty of long strips left over from ripping boards to size that would be great for many projects. There are large boxes of smaller cutoffs as well. Species isn't marked on them, but at the price i paid, i didn't care. As for the beech, i bought a piece that was 8/4 and about 10in wide totaling about 10bf. Also, they offer military discount...
Read moreI would give them zero stars if I could! I hired the owner of OP Hardwoods to put wood veneer on a coffee table for me. I took it home and when I opened the windows of my house the veneer buckled everywhere. They said they could fix it by ironing it, which I though sounded like a joke, but had them try anyway. Again, it bucked. They are now refusing to refund ANY of the $600 I paid them OR to take any fault in the matter. I guess they're blamed me for storing the table in my house!?? Last I checked, veneered furniture is not sold with a warning to not open your windows! This was supposed to be a gift for my mom. My husband made the table, and now it is completely ruined. I have never been treated or ripped off so badly! Gross people with gross...
