Hy-Vee Bakery — Restaurant in Springfield

I ordered a cake for my mother's 80th birthday. A two-tiered round cake with rosetts around the bottom and scrolling around the top. When I called back the next week, I spoke with the young lady that said she would be making the cake. She had a picture. I talked with her in length about the color. As everyone's interpretation of color is different, I just wanted to make sure it wasn't pink. I did not want it like the picture which was more pink in color. I wanted it to be a dusty rose almost mauve color. I used those exact words. She said she understood. So when my sister picked the cake up, it was pink. Like baby shower pink. Seriously! So while the cake was very pretty and looked very similar to the picture, it was pink. We obviously ate it and it was good. (my mother of course had no idea it was the wrong color). But I was disappointed cause I know she doesn't really care for the color pink. So long story short, make sure your on the same page as the Decorator. And yes I would still go back there for...

It is an extremely sad day when you go into Hy-Vee expecting to find a higher quality of a birthday cake only to find their bakery section is completely and pathetically out done by Walmart and Price Cutter, now known as King Cash Saver. For Hy-Vee to believe to be so superior on the rest of their products and their bakery to fall so flat on its face is completely disappointing. I don’t ever recommend using their bakery for anything. Ordered a Frozen cake for my daughter's birthday party. The lid of the box didn't close all the way and pushed the Anna and Elsa decor into and across the cake. Perhaps get boxes that properly fit your cakes or don't put decorations on at the store for them to get destroyed.
