*Edit- I have reached out via email through the āPlatoās Closetā website to your store, and have not received a reply back within a month. I will not be shopping here again and hope that the people reading this review wonāt either. I will be taking my business to another retailer like Clothes Mentor next door, who do not have rude employees nor overpriced merchandise. No wonder this store only has 3 stars and Iām hoping the owner can put a slight effort in to run the store better, but I highly doubt it.
Iām genuinely disappointed by my experiences at this store. During my first visit, I overheard the employees joking about āfeeling badā for an elderly woman, saying theyād bought her jewelry out of pity. This came across as unprofessional and insensitive. I also asked to see an item displayed on the counter, only to be told, āItās not available yet,ā with no clear explanation or help when I asked when it would be. The employees were more concerned about their conversation than answering my simple question.
I tried to reach out to the owner by email to express my concerns politely, but I never received a response. Despite this, I decided to give the store another chance today, hoping for improvement. Unfortunately, the cashier didnāt acknowledge me or say a single word, even though I greeted her kindly. As someone with experience in customer service, Iād never ignore a polite customer, so this was disappointing to say the least.
This store has potential, but the consistent lack of courtesy and professionalism from the staff leaves a lot to be desired. I had hoped for a better experience but was let down repeatedly. I wonāt be returning, and I hope the store considers improvements to better serve...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePlace has gone down hill over the years. Biggest issue with this place is the buying. I brought in a HUGE tote FULL of clothes. I am talking I rolled up shirts, pants, button up shirts, pants, dress pants, and other clothes. When I walked in the lady didn't say much, she said she would check it in and let me know. I browsed the store and found a few things I wanted. I kept looking back to see when someone would look through the clothes. When I walked up to checkout, the lady told me my clothes were ready.
The girl working had grabbed only one piece of clothing off the top and said we could buy this for $1.50. I asked if there were any other item that would be eligible. She said "nnnoooo, sorry, our policy requires us to be very picky." I said, but you didn't even look in the bin." She replies, "Yeah it's our policy, sorry."
Could easily tell she was not even interested, however, another customer (female) came up to the counter and sold every piece of clothing she brought in. Place has gone downhill over the years. Careful bringing items here, you may get lied...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent in with my friend to sell some clothes and was really in shock by my experience. We brought in a relatively large amount of clothes which mostly consisted of American Egale jeans, Hollister, and a couple other brands that were specifically stated on their website as acceptable clothing, and I called before we made the drive from Decatur to confirm this. After returning a half an hour after dropping off the clothes an employee loudly told us that they couldnt accept tattered outdated clothes. I checked all of the jeans prior to making the drive, and didnt included anything that looked excessively worn or with stains. Aside from being completely embarrassed and inconvenienced I'm confused about how the items brought in didnt fit exactly what was described on their website. When I contacted another store describing the experience and my items they assured me that if the items were in decent condition they would be accepted and would look forward to me bringing them in. I guess I'll have to make the trip to Bloomington if I want a decent experience at...
