I KNOW THIS IS LONG BUT PLEASE READ. I cannot say enough about wigs by Barbara. I wish I could give 5 million stars. First of all, they are a MEDICAL facility and the only wig shop in NJ that is likely IN YOUR INSURANCE NETWORK - so the cost of your wig is totally covered with no maximum (as opposed to out of network benefits). Barbara and her son Michael run the place and they immediately make you feel totally comfortable before you even go into the shop, when you first talk on the phone. And from the moment you walk in the shop, they make you feel like FAMILY. They take care of EVERYTHING from start to finish - they get all the information from insurance and the prescription from your doctor so you don't have to make any calls, bill insurance directly so you don't have to pay a DROP up front, and they'll let you try on 400 wigs until you're totally satisfied. And if you're still not satisfied, they'll make a custom wig for you. It's a ONE STOP SHOP - no waiting for the wigs to come in - they have over 1000 wigs in shop. I had very long, very thick hair before getting sick and it was important to me to find a long one to feel most myself because my hair is a huge part of my identity. It was blonde with a dirty blonde ombré (darker at the top and blonde at the bottom). They found me the perfect length blonde wig, and then cut a sample of my real hair to match the top of it perfectly. They dyed the top and I came in a few days later to try it on, and immediately burst into tears because I was so happy that I felt like I was looking at myself. It was important to me to have it ready for when my hair started falling, so they let me take it home with me and I wore it in public with a wig cap a few times. But I would have to come back and get it resized because my head would be smaller without hair. When it finally started falling, I called, and all I said to Michael was, "today is the day," and he said, "ok honey, come in any time before 5 and we'll take care of you." I came in, they cut my remaining hair to donate to someone else, shaved me, resized my wig (writing this as I wait for them to finish sewing it), and they gifted me a cap to wear when I'm sleeping PLUS a baseball cap with sewn in hair that matched my color if I ever don't feel like wearing the wig - for free. Once they're done sewing, they'll style it for me and give me all the instructions. I just couldn't be happier. They made one of the hardest things I've ever been through easier and more comfortable, and blessed me with a wig that makes me feel most myself. I am so grateful to wigs by Barbara and I would travel 500 miles to come here again if I ever move away but get sick again. Truly just amazing people, patient, kind, compassionate, and such a great family. THANK...
Read moreFor many years I struggled with hair loss. Those of you who are going through it or have gone through it know how much this can really affect your mental health, your self-esteem and confidence. I started the process of a hair piece back in July 2020 during the pandemic, I needed to feel better about myself and had heard good things from people in the past who had done it. Unfortunately I had an initial bad experience at a different location and that’s when I found the Park Ridge wig center in rivervale, NJ in September 2020. They had taken measurements and promised a new piece would arrive in around 4-6 weeks maximum. I desperately needed a new piece and they kept mentioning delays and delays. January 2021 came around and no piece had arrived and I was sent to the sister location Wigs by Barbara in Springfield, NJ. The work by their stylists is great, but it is very very unfortunate that these locations are run by a very money hungry manager Frank. He has zero customer service etiquette and does not care about the customers, money is priority for him. Promised a free cut after the months of waiting for a new hair piece and all false promises. After only three months of having my new hair piece Frank was already pressuring for me to put down a down payment for a new wig because prices would be doubling from what is already a VERY expensive process. He mentioned how I did not have the right shape head to shave my head and highly did not recommend it and to continue with the hair pieces which was very insulting. I did not understand why i would be putting down money for a piece so early on when the current piece was supposed to last for 2-3 years if taken care of. This was honestly the last straw and the best decision of my life was to remove myself from this family company and just shave my head. Please do not give them your money, it will be only a headache, so many lies and delays is just not worth it. Please find another location If you are committed to a hair piece. I took my time to write this because of the months of suffering I had to go through with this and would not wish it...
Read moreI called and spoke with the owner, Frank, this past weekend about my dear friend; who is currently dealing with her cancer journey and is undergoing chemo therapy treatment that started dealing with the reality of losing her hair and she was interest in wanting a realistic human hair made wig. Frank was compassionate right from the start; with his flexibility, timeframe that we would have before my friend’s hair would fall out, what to expect and also scheduling a private session at the salon in Springfield, NJ today. Frank and his team, especially Joel and Arthur, were so supportive and did such a fabulous job with cutting my friend’s hair to the perfect length, to finding the perfect wig and styling it to her specifications. In such a sensitive time, to have people that are so kind, knowledgeable and know what they are doing and talking about, really made me feel so good for my friend, that is going through the most difficult time. Frank and his team were friendly and we laughed a ton while we were there too. I will recommend this family business to everyone I know, especially as a cancer survivor myself, it meant a lot to me to be surrounded by people who actually care about their customers. Thank you...
