This particular Panera has horrible service. If a customer customizes their sandwich, expect the staff to get it wrong! It’s the closest Panera near my home, which I frequent since I love the food and it’s a quick meal whenever I am in a rush and don’t want to cook. I go there about, at least, once a week. I keep going because it is so convenient and I keep hoping that someone competent will be behind the counter. Over the summer, because of the bad service, new staff and management were brought in. Staff members are now instructed to "intercept" the orders before delivered to customers. Sometimes I want to ask them if they know what they are looking at. I see them looking in the bag, lifting up sandwiches and pretending to check something. But, as has happened to me, you sit down, or worse go home, to find a chicken salad without chicken or a sandwich with items that you have specifically requested that they NOT put in. My favorite is when they are out of certain items, but instead of informing the customer, they put in whatever they want. Customer service does not matter here and, worse, it apparently doesn’t matter to them if someone is allergic to something or not. It is also becoming clear to me, that the majority of the staff is neither able to read the monitor nor do they appear to have proper training. Every time I go in there, I always ask for no lettuce - I am allergic. And every single time I find my meals with lettuce in it. One staff said to me, “ it’s better that I don’t make your sandwich because I cannot tell apart the different greens ,” and thereafter told her coworker to make it for me. So, because I usually go in there already starving and don’t want to deal with having to wait two hours for a sandwich to get fixed - I stopped customizing my meals. However, I shouldn’t have had to have done that and it hasn’t stopped the bad customer service. Because, as I said, even in a standard meal, if they are out of an item, the staff will not inform the customer. And they always appear to be out of items. Just last week I went in at 9 AM and they were out of eggs and coffee. How does that happen when the restaurant had recently opened for breakfast?? I’m done with this place. I think I would rather deal with the hassle of cooking, then to have to see any of these clowns make...
Read moreI come here a lot! I've never left a review, but today... I ordered a salad. I always order it with no tomatoes. First, I don't like them and second, I sometimes get itchy after eating them. So, in general I just avoid them. Today they put tomatoes in it. I got to the counter with the salad and receipt. They said they couldn't take it back, that they would have to toss it. So, I kept it and waited for them to prepare a new one.. When it was ready, an asian lady that I had never seen, asked me to bring it back.. She asked if I was allergic, to which I responded "yes, but I can give it to someone at work" I don't remember exactly how the conversation went but she asked me to give it back. Which is fine. I technically did not pay for it. However, I kind of could not believe it.. I asked if she wanted me to give it back to make sure I heard her right. She said yes.. So, I did. My point is, would you rather toss a salad because YOU made a mistake, as opposed to letting someone else eat it?? Is a free salad really going to make ANY difference to a business like Panera Bread? I felt so disappointed!! Not because of the salad itself. Again, I did not pay for it and my purpose was not to get a free salad.. It was more like sadness.. What kind of person prefers to throw out a salad when somebody else can actually eat it? How miserable do you have to be?? Anyway... Like I said, I come here a lot. They've gotten my order wrong a few times, but I've never said anything because who cares? If it's not a big deal, I just eat it. In this case, I could not and that's why I brought it to their attention.. In general, two men that I think are the managers are nice and attentive. The rest of the staff is ok. Place is clean. Music can be a...
Read moreGreat place HOWEVER when people "order from the table" it means just that...I ordered from my table so that I dont have to leave my valuables unattended but i guess some people are just ignorant...I ordered from my table a frozen mocha over an hour ago at the Springfield NJ location and waited over an hour just to see that it was "sitting" there in the Rapid pick up... Not to mention I was the only customer in the place . People stop being LAZY!! AND DO YOUR JOB!!
I go to all Panera Bread locations from Watchung, North Brunswick, Piscataway, Gilette, Woodbridge, Edison (not in Menlo Park Mall), and Springfield. However, my experience at the Springfield, NJ on March 16, 2019 at 9:30am was VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!!!!! I come here because I am working on my doctorate and your locations are great to do school work not only because of the great menu but because I can eat and do schoolwork for long periods of time. I cannot do that at a library because you cannot eat at the library. What is annoying to me is that the customer service from the male workers differs significantly from female workers. And, I am tired of it!!!! I spend money every day at this place so I can complete my doctorate and it is nothing more frustrating when you are discriminated against by your own gender not to mention RACE!! It is terrible!!! I see the difference when female workers treat male customers differently than me!!! I spend money every day and I don't ask for special treatment BUT I EXPECT to be treated with RESPECT and DECENCY Especially since I am spending money here every day!!!!!! RE train your female staff, tell them to grow UP and ACT MATURE!!!! THIS IS NOT HIGH SCHOOL!!!! THANK...
