My girlfriend and I have been taking Andiās Thursday and Sunday Slow Flow class and loving it. We are obsessed and both bought class cards after trying our first class. The studio is full of light and feels spacious with high ceilings and windows. I feel truly comfortable here as a fat, visibly gay woman in an exercise class, which is a rare experience. All the staff and fellow students I have interacted with have been so friendly and welcoming. Andiās class is slow and gentle but at times a little challenging for me as Iām just getting back into yoga; she constantly gives modifications and affirmations in class so that there isnāt any weird energy or judgement around needing to do your own thing or modify a pose for a while. I am so glad I have found a space to continue my journey of developing a positive, healthy relationship with exercise and physical activity! Social distancing is enforced in class and everyone practices with mask on, so I feel good about attending in person classes during the pandemic. I canāt wait to try some more classes...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI love this studio! It is clean, spacious, and stocked with great props. They offer a variety of classes and have many different instructors so you can find what best suits you. I recommend Brick City Yoga to all my friends!
Lauren has been one of my favorite instructors. She emphasizes autonomy in your practice and encourages modifications to make the most out of your time on the mat. Her classes are perfect for beginners or experienced yogis as she suggests many different versions of the same pose/ flow while encouraging you to find what sensation/challenge works best for your body.
I like that Lauren offers a lot of verbal and hands on instruction (only if you opt in) during the class while never making you feel rushed or like youāre doing the āwrongā movement. I also enjoy her guided meditations at the beginning/ end of class. She brings in outside resources like poems, affirmations, and songs to connect to your daily life and help you practice...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went once with a partner who has more yoga experience than me. And they we're more disappointed than me because the class did not feel like yoga expiriemces they had in the past.. I would describe the atmosphere as not very beginner friendly (at least in this class which was labeled as good for beginners) and very athletic vs spiritual (which might be a plus for some people). I'm sorry I can't remember which class it was. But it was very fast paced and hard to keep up with and neither of us felt very zen, and it was not supposed to be a fast flow class. I got a good workout! But it is not what we were looking for. Also the studio has gotten really popular and so the tiny city space was just crammed and there was really no space to stretch out without hitting the person next to you! If you decide to go, go early or you might get a...
