This place is a joke, I brought my log splitter here for service because after a year of owning it it stopped splitting logs. I spoke with champion about it and they told me it’s a pump issue just from what I told them over the phone. Mind you I have about 8-10 hours on this brand new splitter. They told me to take it here and it would be taking care of. After 2 weeks Chris the (mechanic) lol?? Told me that it won’t push through a 8” log and that was normal for a 27ton log splitter. He also told me that having the unit to full with fluid might cause this issue of lack of power? Which he admits there is a lack of power but told me I need to take a little off each 8” diameter log at a time well probably wouldn’t have spent almost 1400.00 on log splitter that can’t handle a 8” diameter log. Ok back to the hydraulic fluid he said would cause the issue while on the phone with him I told him no there is a vent so that when that fluid heats up it has somewhere to go. Apparently he thinks it’s a sealed unit which it’s not. After all this he told me there is no way for them to diagnose if the pump issue while faulty or not. So why did I even bring to you if you can’t diagnose the issue?? What a run around. So he tells me this is just the way it is and I can come pick it up anytime Chris the mechanic was going to do nothing else. So I call champion and tell them what is going on and they tell me Chris is wrong and they will send me the part if I’m willing to do the work myself I agreed and they are sending me the pump. So I go there today to pick up my log splitter on 9/5/25 at 3:00pm and I’m greeted but customer service I tell her I’m here to pick up my splitter that they could not diagnose nor fix and she say ok mumbling something over a walkie then went about cashing out a drawer so a minute in a ask are we waiting for someone to respond or ????? She replies yes then ask the girl at the register is Chris on lunch ? No response from the cashier. 5 minutes go by and I’m sure she could tell I was getting frustrated she stops counting the drawer and get back on the walkie and says is there anyone that can get this log splitter? Another response and say yes she can and asked me to drive around the side. Chris never showed his face or responded the entire time I was there. I believe this store needs new management or at the least some new staff members. I will never go to this store again.
Update: I called champion and explained they said it’s probably the pump they sent me one out immediately. I received it today took a total of 20 minutes to change and guess what? My log splitter is working great again! It pushes through any of the logs I put on it. Who would have thought that a 1400.00 27ton log splitter should have been able to split more than pieces off of a 8” log. Chris I hope someone with some intelligence actually questions what...
Read moreI don't live anywhere near here...my local RK is New Philadelphia or even Wooster. I ended up being close to this one for work, however, so I ordered something online to pick up here on the way back home. I liked this one. It seemed to be a but more spacious, and cleaner actually than my normal RKs. I love RK. I don't know that I can ever give one less than 4 stars. This RK probably did deserve a lower rating though. The big thing was that even though they weren't half as busy as the New Philly one, getting through a checkout line was 10 times worse. They seemed to be so undermanned that the workers there were visibly exasperated and overwhelmed. Customer's remained patient, but truly management needs improvement. I also ran into an issue with my pick up order. I waited 15 minutes to be helped at customer service (in line) only to be told that I picked the item up already, or someone picked it up for me! After searching for another 5 minutes, a manager finally came over and told her, "No, that just means someone pulled it already. It's right here." She picked it right up and handed it to me. I don't blame the customer service rep AT ALL...she was clearly overwhelmed. She was instructing someone in the yard about helping customers, answering the phone (and then re-answering and apologizing when the people she paged didn't answer, plus she had about 10 more people in her line because there was only one other register open! (This was the short line!) That's not on her...that's management! Also...I hate to even bring it up...who complains about free popcorn? BUT I honestly couldn't wait to get in the store and get some nice,warm popcorn while I shopped. There wasn't any. There we're only kernels in the bottom of the bin. Either way, the items I picked up were on clearance and so 4 of them cost me less than I usually pay for one! Frustrating, but ultimately...
Read moreSo I don’t know where this will go but, my husband and I got a dehydrator for deer jerky last week! It was not heating like it should so we took it back to Rural King in Steubenville Ohio! I went and told the lady that we just wanted to exchange it for a different one and told her why! Now my mom paid for this with her debit card, I did not want to return it I just wanted a different one! Instead of this lady listening to me and my husband she returned it so then the money went back in my moms card instead of us being able to exchange it! When we said we just wanted to exchange it, this lady was so concerned about having a personal conversation with “the manager” that had nothing to do with work! She messed up! Then they gave us a horrible time to try to fix this! My mom who loves 2 hours from here had to drive all that way to purchase another dehydrator because of this lady and her negligence!!! Poor customer service here! I love rural king but will never go back to Steubenville !!!! So if you ever go there be sure she is not talking to anyone and is listening to what you say! My mom was not happy having to take a 4 hour drive in total to get...
