It definitely pains me to write this review but the sting of it was definitely lessened when I read the other recent reviews which completely shared my sentiment. Suncatcher used to be one of the best surf shops I ever experienced. They had a thousand different epic snap back hats, unique surf brands like Reef, Jetty, and RVCA, a huge selection of shades, book bags, and great deals on their own surf wear. I used to own so many Suncatcher zip hoodies that I would honestly wear them when doing construction work; not caring if I messed them up because I said “no worries, I’ll just pick up a new one this summer”. But, that’s all changed in a huge way. I don’t know where this shop is going but it was so disappointing to be there this past weekend. First of all, the brand selection is starting to dwindle. Now I get that I visited in the off season, but the store appeared pretty stocked; just with like zero variety. Not a single Reef or Jetty shirt in sight. The biggest thing however that just hit me in the heart terribly was the outrageous price of their store merchandise. Their zip hoodies, which mind you have not changed styles or design or even brand of hoodie, in years are now priced at $74.99! That’s literally insane for a hoodie. Tee shirts are close to $40, crew necks were close to $60. I don’t know man, I’m not rich or poor by any means but there’s no way I’m paying $75 bucks for a generic hoodie. Time to switch up your designs if you want that kind of money. I’m not totally trashing Suncatcher, as I’ve visited every spring and summer for the last 15 years, but their ship does seem to be sinking fast in my opinion.

Do not shop here. The customer service is extremely poor. My boyfriend purchased a pair of sunglasses less than an hour ago, only to realize the frames were defective—the left side was tilted upward, making them completely lopsided. We went back right away to show the issue, and instead of making it right, they simply said, “no returns.” This is unacceptable, especially considering the purchase had just been made. For a local business, this kind of attitude is disappointing and unprofessional. My family and I have shopped here often, but after this experience we will be taking our business elsewhere—and I strongly recommend others do the same.

Don’t shop here for surfboards/skimboards etc. They consistently mark the prices up anywhere from $150-$200 on a board. For example the pictures below mark a Zap core 48” skimboard for $320 if you go to Zaps website they’re selling it for $140-$160 depending on size. Highway robbery at its finest. Taking advantage of ripping off local tourists. This pricing model is also consistent with their Catch Surf foambards etc. shop somewhere else.

I visited the store today with my son. We’ve been shopping here for years and he loves to pick something out. We went in for a t-shirt and he decided on a hat instead. He chose the hat, we paid, and he put on his new hat. We walked out of the store and I called my husband to ask if he also wanted one. As we waited on the corner to cross the street, one of the salespeople (perhaps the manager?) followed us to the corner and asked my son if he purchased the hat. He is 11 years old. I was so shocked that I dropped my phone. She said “the owner thought we walked out with an additional hat that we hadn’t paid for.” I asked if she’d like to see my receipt, but she said “no, she just wanted to be sure” and walked away without apology. Once I got to my car, I called the store and asked to speak to the manager or owner about the incident. The salesperson that I spoke to on the phone said she completely understood why I’d be upset. I left my name and number for the manger to call me back and she never did. I was not only humiliated in front of other people sitting on the benches outside the store, but more importantly my son. I will never shop at this store again and I plan on spreading the word about this incident. It was just awful. Afterwards, I shopped at Pete Smith’s and I will continue to go there instead. I refuse to be treated like a criminal while shopping in a t-shirt...

i walked into this store about a month ago and they only had sizes up to size 29 inch waist. i’m a 30-32 inch waist. i decided to try on a 29 just to see, i tried it on and it didn’t fit. we kindly asked the lady to look for a larger size, she looked on the rack and she brought me a 29 back. i went out to the rack myself (multiple racks) and looked for a 30 or higher none in the store. my friend wanted a shirt and she got a large because many shirts they had looked smaller than size. they are stretchy but not idea. their large in many shirts looked like it could be a small. we talked to the workers who were (not being rude) older in age said to me and my family that larger girls wouldn’t wear those clothes because they know it wouldn’t look good. um first of all people would buy whatever they wanted to. i will not be bringing my service here anymore this experience really just made me angry and upset that someone could be this disrespectful to customers in their store. we seriously considered leaving we found 2 things that fit nicely we decided to buy them but trust me we will not...
