The food was good, but the rest of the experience was downright horrible and I hope people choose any of the other excellent restaurants available in the surrounding area.
My wife and I came in for dinner before our movie, and we were seated immediately but it took over 20 minutes for us to get any attention from the wait staff. The waitress did the bare minimum, we did not get drink refills, all of the employees walked around like they did not want to be there, and to top it off the food was extremely expensive.
The icing on the cake though was that this establishment charges a surcharge on debit transactions, even though this action is both illegal and in violation of Toast and Visa compliance. I have since begun the process of filing reports through both those entities as well as legal ones, and i wholeheartedly encourage everyone to avoid this establishment.
I've been coming to Stone Harbor multiple times a year for the past 30 years and this restaurant is by far the worst there currently. Go to Fred's, go to the restaurant next door, go to Stone Harbor pizza! Go anywhere but here.
UPDATE:
To correct the false information provided by Stone Harbor Burger Bar in response to my review: The incorrect charge was $1.86, not $1.65 I was never rude, never raised my voice and never used any coarse language of any kind while interacting with wait staff. The hostess at the door was rude and on her phone while serving guests. I brought the issue to the attention of my waitress when the bill arrived and was given false information it, no attempt was made to rectify the situation. When I asked for a manager, they were ill-mannered and also did not make any attempt to rectify the situation. I informed them that since they were not willing to rectify the situation, I was going to be filing complaints against the restaurant. Since both the waitress and the manager was insistent that I was wrong, but now the "owner" is stating that the charge was a mistake, it only reinforces my original sentiment on the customer service this...
Read moreFood is very average (except the giant buttery delicious Bavarian Pretzel), service is slow slow slow (hoping that’s COVID related).
After a handful of times eating I can officially declare the entrees to be very average (and overpriced). They have delicious appetizers, especially the Bavarian Pretzel and Fried Pickles. Below the buttery skin is the fluffy dough center, served with stone ground mustard and basic cheese dipping sauce. The fried pickle spears have a flavorful coating. I’m usually not a fan of spears because when you bite into them the pickle pulls out of the coating entirely, but the way they fry them you won’t encounter that pickle disaster.
The entrees. The chicken wings...good flavor, served all flats which was the most pleasant surprise, but they were out of the “15 count wings, only had the “8 count.” What does that even mean? Are they frozen and already portioned out? I was disappointed. I ordered the Texas Burger, medium rare. They nailed the cook on the burger, but the burger itself lacked seasoning. The BBQ Bourbon sauce that I hoped would be oozing out of the sides ended up being about a tablespoon of sauce soaked into the bun. It was supposed to have onion straws, but instead came out with onion rings. Were they trying to pull a fast one on me? The onion rings were a soggy mess, but the side of onion straws were delicious. The shoestring french fries were unsalted and soggy. A side of honey mustard at this place is basically mustard.
Now the service, they have roughly 10 tables and 2 servers. I get it’s tough in COVID times, but for the entire hour and a half we were there I sat with an empty water glass that never was refilled; I had to steal one from another person I was dining with. Nice server though.
I will always come back for a pretzel, but I’m not going out of my way...
Read moreBleh. Bleh to everything. What a disappointment. In my opinion, if you call yourself a "burger bar" you better have the best burgers in town. You're telling the burger eating world that this is your forte! Sadly, this is not the case for Harbor Burger Bar.
After receiving our $3 and very flat, sugary soda, we waited... and waited until Ashley, ( sorry gotta call this one out) our server, moseyed on over to our table. Either this girl was having a bad night or she needs to find a new profession- and quickly! She never once mentioned a special which we didn't know existed until well into our meal. She took our order but never asked how we wanted a burger cooked.
When someone asked for the sauce on the side instead of on the burger she became very confused. She asked "do you mean you don't want it on the burger?" Yes. Yes, that is exactly what we mean. Another asked what kind of sauces / condiments do you have...I thought poor Ashley was going to pass out. She scrunched up her face, shook her head and shrugged her shoulders. She managed to get out "uhhhhhh ...ummm... ranch?" Okie dokee then! Ranch it is! We did not see her again until she brought the check.
In terms of food-bacon was undercooked and somehow bland. Burgers were way over cooked, way over priced and as dry as the beach down the block! Terrible service. Terrible burgers....
