After many different visits to ski shops ranging in CO and MA, Konrad at ski and sport shack was the first to kindly say that he could put my bindings on my skis. It’s wild how quickly other shops can turn you down and change their tone really quickly when you ask them to do something they can’t do, and they know you don’t know a lot. Konrad on the other hand said he could do it and followed through. Understandably, they asked for a lot of time. In the end, they were screwed over because the brand of binding I had, Fritschi, was dragging their feet getting them the jig (a super common thing with this brand). He ended up staying late one night to totally install the bindings with no jig for me so I could have them in time for a trip to Mammoth, CA. He did an absolute impeccable job. He even took the time to walk me through all the ins and outs of the bindings, which I appreciated a lot.
For your sake, and their sake, make sure you record your ticket number on maintenance jobs if you drop something off. I didn’t have mine when I called to check in and another worker was towing the line of being rude and refusing to give me an update with a ticket number because of hard it would be to find it in shop. When you go in during peak season, you get why. Just remember to record that number and have it on hand.
Great people, great shop. Worth the drive, even if it’s out...
Read moreIf you're looking for the kind of store where customer service is paramount and you're tired of supporting the big box giants, this is the place to be. For the ski boots I was shipping for, their pricing even beat most of the online outfitters. I spoke to both the owner and his employee's over the phone regarding a end of season sale item and the respect and friendliness was off the charts. For example: I live about 2 hours from the shop, so shipping was obviously my preference, though I could feasibly make it to the shop in person. When I called and ended up speaking to the owner (Conrad) he was more than happy to make shipping arrangements via UPS even though the site wasn't set up to do it online. When I gave him my address, he recognized the general area and let me know that he would actually happen to be passing right through my town on his way to pick up inventory the coming weekend. I kid you not, Conrad not only offered but followed through on dropping off my boots on his way through! That's the level of customer service you're dealing with here. If you have a problem, they'll help you solve it. A+++ service guys! Look forward to doing future...
Read moreI love to support the local bike shop because we need them to keep our bikes running and provide quality/reliable equipment. This place caters to the budget conscious consumer - lower priced bikes and ski equipment - mainly for parents to get their kids. Not a huge selection for any sort of bike or ski enthusiast - but some great entry-level price points.
They offer junior season ski rentals this season for $169 - includes boots and poles as well. Supply is limited this year due to covid.
Most recently we picked up a new ski package for my 16yr son and felt like we were getting a good deal with skis, boots and poles for about $650 all in. However later when I curiously researched the skis online I immediately saw the same skis are for sale at a major retailer for $100 less than what we paid - the markup at SSS was massive. Im realizing with some more shopping I could have gotten my son something that would last him longer for the same price if I shopped around.
Our sales person was very attentive and knowledgeable - something you cant...
