TLDR: They destroyed my engagement ring that was a family heirloom by using white gold on a platinum ring. My fiancé brought his mother’s wedding ring to MJ Thomas to get some stones added and get the ring sized to propose to me with. It was a beautiful ring that I absolutely loved. I first brought it in to get resized a few months after getting engaged, which went well. After I got it back, within a few days I noticed that one of the prongs was broken and brought it back to get fixed. This went smoothly too. In July, after wearing the ring for exactly a year, I noticed that the setting itself was cracking under one of the stones. I brought it in to get fixed. I found that I had to call multiple times to check when the ring was going to be ready. When I got the ring back, it was fixed but it was very noticeable where the repairs were. Less than 3 months later, the ring cracked again in the exact same spots. This was a platinum ring, which should not be cracking or scratching like this. I decided not to go back to MJ Thomas this time and went to a different jeweler. This jeweler was horrified for me when they saw the ring. They informed me that my ring was contaminated with white gold. MJ Thomas had used white gold to repair my platinum ring which makes it extremely brittle and now my ring is permanently damaged and unfixable. I have to have my ring completely rebuilt and reset. This is devastating losing a family heirloom because a jeweler did a botched job and now my ring is forever ruined. I would not recommend MJ Thomas to anyone for jewelry repairs. Go to a master goldsmith who knows that...
Read moreDropped off my engagement ring and wedding band to be fused--a very basic and common request. They gave me an estimate of a few days, which was fine. The day it was supposed to be ready, I sent my husband to pick it up for me. He didn't know what they were doing, so waited while they worked on it and then brought it home for me. After wearing the rings for a few hours, I noticed the inside of the ring was rubbing weird on my finger. Turns out that MJ Thomas Jewelers waited until the last second - when my husband was at their shop waiting - to work on my ring. It was a rushed job and a HACK job - the marks from where he nicked the inside of my ring were visible to the naked eye. I had to take my ring to another jeweler to fix the gauges - 450$ to fix the damage they did to my rings because of how much material it would take to fill the holes in the bands. My insurance company is going after MJ for payment. I will never take my...
Read moreThese people are WONDERFUL! I've taken several pieces of jewelry for repairs and I've always been impressed with their work and have never seen my jewelry so shiny and brilliant! I've also sold jewelry I no longer wanted and was very pleasantly surprised with the payout. Their jewelry is BEAUTIFUL and unique. It's definitely quality work. They are also very sweet and welcoming and really know what they're doing. They're the only people I will trust with my jewelry repairs and cleaning. Do yourself a favor and look no further for a full-service jeweler, as they're right in Paradise Green, right next to another wonderful local business that I patronize, One...
