I reallllllly realllllllllly hate to be giving a market basket a one star review it kills me to do so but unfortunately I had to give this one particular one a one star. The only issue I have with Market Basket as a whole is that they should bring back Arthur.
Anyway at this particular location I had a problem when checking out. I was checking out and the people behind the counter were talking loudly in Spanish with each other all the ladies were gossiping and talking at high volumes and didn’t even acknowledge my existence except to start ringing my stuff up and giving me a stare as if they wish I wasn’t there. I know the primary offender and their name but I don’t wish to get one person in trouble as in reality it is all the checkout ladies. Almost every single checkout person I saw at this MB speaks little to no English and won’t even respond to you sometimes when you speak directly at them with simple English. They all talk to each other in Spanish and in the presence of many non Spanish speakers. This is considered extremely rude in America especially because we don’t know what they are saying and it could be about us being even. No matter, if you prioritize gossiping and talking to coworkers over the customer you should not be working or you should be getting sternly warned about your behavior… especially when this is done in the presence of many locals of the area who only speak English. This recent wave of Hispanic immigration is very new to this area and it’s going to take a long while for all of us to get used to this. I just wish for you folks to understand and correct this behavior before it gets worse as it’s a bad image...
Read moreDespite long lines, check-out is fast and efficient- much better than Shaw's; and obviously prices are lower; but produce and seafood selections among other things are lousy and much poorer in quality compared to Shaws and especially Hannafords... And this specific store I generally avoid- badly needs to be upgraded- far too small, aisles are way to narrow and corners of store in particular are very frustrating to try & navigate with a shopping cart; I only will go any longer if it is opening/closing times. I know the logistics of this particular M.B make it impossible to allocate some items, but no alfalfa sprouts ever, no vegan mayo in the year 2017. Say your out right now? Maybe so, but I go a week, two weeks, three weeks after: same story. Sometimes it isn't allocated. Other products are no where to be found for long durations, because I discover the wrong product has been stocked with the shelf tag (not a one time isolated instance either). I don't know how anyone can say this store isn't missing many basic items. It most certainly is. I'm not expecting eclectic options like Philbricks in Portsmouth for example, but the selection can be quite poor even relative to the size of the store. Oh, and when bananas are on sale, could there maybe just be SOME bananas that aren't hulkish green and can't be peeled for at...
Read moreTook them at least 30 minutes to make a tiny pizza we could’ve made at home. No one filled the ingredient stations, so the poor old lady had to run around finding the ingredients for about 15 minutes. Whoever is in charge of restocking the ingredients needs to be retrained, not sure why she should need to go on a hunt all around the store for something that should already be prepared.
And at the pricing machine, one lady didn’t even know how to use it, and one couldn’t even reach it. How hard is it to provide a step stool for your shorter employees? Plus, the lady was a sweetheart, but I feel like if your employees are not as fast as they need to be, maybe switching them to cashiering or something would be a better idea.
Also, there were flies landing on the pizza and on the vegetables in the bar.
PS. Please teach your employees how to wear a mask properly. They’re supposed to cover your nose too.
We’ve already had issues with slow and sloppy service at this location, this was the final straw. We will be going elsewhere until things change. Went there for a sub and a tiny cheese pizza, ended up waiting an hour and by the time we came out the rest of our food...
