Gringo Mexican food is how you would sum this place up. Let's start!
Service was atrocious, have you seen the Seinfeld episode with the puffy shirt and Kramer's girlfriend who talks so softly no one hears her? Well, that was our waitress, couldn't understand her and she was incompetent and slow. Throughout the experience she was inattentive and rarely seen.
The drinks, you ask? Overpriced hot garbage that taste like vomit made by a dude who would remind you of a feminine product used to cleanse certain private areas, he was full of baseless confidence, he clearly needs to find another job, bartender isn't it. Here is one tip to carry with you forever: when you get served a drink in a stupid "glass" it just means you're about to be served an overpriced, mediocre, drink.
The food? Well, let's begin with the stupid multi-taco offering off their menu for their "gourmet tacos". Honestly, I should have run the moment I read "gourmet taco" but alas, I attempted to make this journey. What they need is a decision matrix to determine what you actually can order, it's totally stupid and makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Nobody, and I mean nobody with even a shred of self worth, wants to go through such a fiasco to order a taco...taco!!!! Now, the corn chips were fresh, I'll give you that; however, the "guacamole" was just smashed avocado. Newsflash dear Gringo's, if you just smash an Avocado without adding anything, it's just smashed avocado, not guacamole, so major fail there. Finally, we ordered the same plates, just with different choices in tortilla, one corn and one flour. My wife received hers and over 7 minutes later I still didn't have mine.... seriously? What was presented to us was clearly frozen shrimp that was pre made and the refried beans were garbage from a can with barely melted "cheese" on top. After the 7th minute was up, we have up and I asked for my check and I refused to pay for the dinners, just what we had eaten and no one cared, didn't even bother to ask what exactly was wrong.
This isn't a spot for locals or anyone who really knows Mexican food. This place is here to serve the visiting Yankees who would call the police if they had actual Mexican food, because they wouldn't be able to handle the real spices in it. If you're a local and you respect authentic Mexican food,...
Read moreMy one taco was good, but my husband's lunch selection was not as appealing. This is the 1st Mexican Resturant I have ever eaten in that did not have a salsa made with either pureed or chopped tomato. What we were given was an orange colored salsa that had a completely different taste. It wasn't the salsa we had ever tasted. And we have eaten salsa in many areas of our country. Not satisfying at all. I also did not see fried ice cream as one of the desserts on the menu. I ordered a vanilla cake soaked with cocunut cream and it was very good. Our service was not good. The waitress was rude in my standards. She did not wait for my husband to decide on his choice of beer. He was a bit slower reading the choices due to an eye issue he has. She couldn't wait and walked away saying well I'll get both of you water while you decide. He spoke his choice as she was leaving the table. At that time we were her only customers, I felt this was very rude. After she brought our order, she started waiting on the people who had decided to sit outside. None of the other waitresses came to our table to ask if we needed anything. We sat waiting for someone to ask if we needed anything else. After about 30 minutes of waiting, she came back inside. And brought the new group of people who had just sat down, their drinks with her. I don't know if she had asked them outside or if they were regulars, but they were sitted and they immediately got water and sodas brought to the table without being asked by anyone. She stopped by our table to give us our ticket. I asked for a dessert to go. She left for outside again. The next time she came in, I had my purse and car keys sitting on the table waiting for the take out. She went to the back and came out about 5 minutes later with 2 food items in her hands. My to go order was on a plate..I told her again that was a go order. She said oh ok..then took the other dish outside to deliver it before taking my order back to the kitchen. When she finally came out, we paid and left. I left a tip for quality of service we received. We were just visiting the area, so I'll never be back to this resturant, and I'm sure they won't care. But this was not a...
Read moreMy Girlfriend and I visit Taco Shack religiously. I say this because we are there literally once a week. I will say some of the servers aren’t always the best, however there are a few good ones. The food is top of the line. It is so good we haven’t even gotten a chance to go to their new establishment called, “Stack:Burger & Bourbon Restaurant”. I will say we always order the Three Amigos Large which comes with chips, salsa, queso, & guacamole. If it is happy hour we’ll even throw in the chicken empanadas! We have recently tried the carne asada fries with chipotle crema and peppers added. It was very good! Our normal go to tacos are: Gingro Beef, The Royal, The Club, The Sticky, Firecracker Shrimp, & Da Philly. For the dessert do not and I mean do not miss out on the cookie ice cream taco!!! Last but not least the Cocktails. Mangonda-Frozen: has to be my least favorite because of the spice and tamarind straw. 2.Coco-Loco: is a beautiful presentation with a coconut cup that gives a nice tropical vibe in addition coconut flakes on the rim. Lychee Me: On the sweeter side, presented in a plain glass cup. But is savory and enjoyable. Cadillac: A great Tequila drink presented seems very little for the glass it’s served in maybe ask for less ice. Corona-Rita: This drink is by far the best. A Tequila with a salt rim. In addition a small corona to the list. This drink will surely get you going. Two of these during happy hour you ought to be close to home from this place or eat more to sober up. This one packs a punch. Really all you need is one to start and finish with your food. It is the best!
Last comment you may want to get there a little earlier before 6-7 because parking may vary. There’s not much...
