Review of Food Town (1130 Eldridge Road, Houston, Texas)
I had an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience with this store, particularly with how they handle customer communication and pricing.
On Sunday, I called the store at 1130 Eldridge Road to inquire about two boxes of turkey. I was quoted a price of under $45 per box and was asked how many I wanted. After confirming I wanted two boxes, they even asked if I wanted them cut up. I clearly stated I wanted them cut up, which means they were confirming availability. If they didnât have the turkeys, they wouldnât have asked me about cutting them up. I arrived less than 30 minutes later, only to be told that the boxes were no longer available. I accepted this situation and left.
Today, Tuesday, December 24th, I called again at 7:30 a.m. and was quoted the same price of $44.90-something per box. I once again confirmed I wanted two boxes and asked for them to be cut up. I was told they would be ready by 10 a.m. I drove 30 minutes to the store, only to find that the price had suddenly doubled to $80 per box.
This bait-and-switch tactic is unacceptable, especially since I had confirmed the price and preparation twice over the phone. When I spoke to Robert, the head manager, his attitude was unprofessional and dismissive. Despite being a regular customer who has purchased the same product multiple times this year, I was treated with zero respect or consideration. His lack of accountability and unwillingness to resolve the issue was appalling.
If you value your time and money, I strongly advise against relying on this storeâs word over the phone. Their customer service is inconsistent, and their pricing practices lack transparency. My experience today left me questioning their integrity, and I will think twice before...
Read moreNASTY CUSTOMER SERVICE. I tried to return some aluminum pans with lids at the customer service counter which is behind glass and locked door. The clerk asked me what's wrong with it and I said I didn't need it. Then she asked me to hold each item against the glass for her to scan. When she couldn't scan the pans she told me to remove the clear plastic cover on top of the aluminum pans and I did. However, I didn't know it was Scott taped on three sides. During the process I ribbed the cover broken which was paper-thin, of course Made in China stuff. A lady came by I understood she was the manager and she said "heâs destroying it". Then she reached out and stopped me and said "What are you doing?" which was not in a nice tone of voice. She took a pan inside and let the clerk scan it. Then she came back out, looked at the pans again and asked me what's wrong with it (the same question the clerk already asked me). Again I said I didn't need it. She threw the one with broken lid on the counter in front of me and left.
Well I tried to return the items intact and unopened in the first place. It was not my fault that she couldn't scan it. Then followed her direction. Obviously the manager thought otherwise and acted in a nasty manner. Maybe Food Town should design a pull-out drawer like a bank's drive through, or maybe the outside cashiers should be allowed to process the returns like Walgreens. Most importantly, the manager should relearn some customer service etiquette.
I was going to buy something afterward but decided to bring my business to the Neighborhood Walmart which is 4 min away. I felt sorry for Food Town when Walmart opened a Neighborhood store nearby, but now I'm rethinking. I've been this Food Town customer for the...
Read moreTotally disappointed with the checker on duty today her name is Charulatta P. She was excessively rude and with out any manner and nothing of education she take a lot of time just to check two prices and in bad mood ask me if the item don't have price on the place so I feel she was having a really bad day! When I was ready to pay for all my stuff she told me the system isn't working just after she take care of a white lady and after she try three or four credit cards and never the checker request any id after she finally pass the card and process all my stuff when I want pay with my card she request me an ID I told her it's my debit card but excessively out of control she request my ID again, I told her why she don't request the ID to the white women and after 4 times to try different cards she just look in another way! I don't want stop the line cause was the only open and I show my ID and process my payment without any problem, my intention with this review it's only for request to the superiors maybe she need a better training and a class of manners and some education cause for employees like her this nice place can lost more regular costumers like me! When she transfer my bill to another young men he told me his device wasn't working and also in a very bad mode she return my bill with this lady! Definitely a very bad experience today with this two employees, rarely cause I visit this store continuously almost 2 times per week and I never has been in this situation before! Bad luck...
