Today wasn't just about a mystery box—it was about how brands exploit loyalty in the age of collectibility. Last night, I placed a confirmed pickup order through Pop Mart’s official app for one of their most sought-after mystery boxes. The order was marked ready for pickup, confirmed by the store manager himself. As a long-time collector, I rearranged my day and drove over an hour each way in brutal heat, only to be told upon arrival: “Sorry, it’s oversold. There’s nothing we can do.” No heads-up. No call. No accountability. Just a hollow apology and a refund. When I asked to reserve future stock or be compensated for the trip—they refused without hesitation. But I’m not just a casual shopper. I’ve been in the collectible space—sneakers, sports cards, art toys—for over a decade. I’ve seen it all: backdoor releases, artificial scarcity, and price manipulation dressed up as “hype.” And sadly, Pop Mart is now repeating the same playbook. As someone with connections to Pop Mart’s China office, I can tell you this isn't a system “glitch.” Internally, bots are deployed to buy back in-demand figures (like Labubu) so they can be resold at inflated prices on platforms like StockX and eBay—often by entities linked to the brand itself. Does it remind you of anything? Think Bearbrick. What began as accessible designer toys became speculative assets—gamed by the very companies behind them. Look at the Bearbrick resale market now: inflated, erratic, and hollow. Collecting should bring joy—not feel like stock trading.
So I’m saying this not just as a disappointed customer, but as a collector who’s seen the full cycle: Image Support brands that respect the community—not those who manipulate it. Pop Mart, your figures are beautiful. But beauty without integrity?...
Read moreAs similar to Siyuan Liu’s review, I was also disappointed in this specific location on how they handled and poorly addressed the “glitch” situation on that happened Friday night 6/13/2025 regarding on the Big into Energy The Monsters In store restock via the PopMart App. I placed an order last night for a Big Into Energy labubu blind box. I received a pickup code at 3am in the morning to only show up at the store Saturday when they opened to tell me that they oversold due to a glitch. I am not buying this glitch because there has to be a process where one accounts for stock to input for the restock. How can that be messed up to over calculate SKUs than what was had in the first place? Also if it was a glitch, then why did an available box popped up for checkout 15 minutes after 9:00pm (the initial drop time). Popmart website/app is known to give customers 15 minutes to checkout after they successfully proceed to the payment page. If they do not complete any payment or it gets decline after 15 minutes, it gets sent back as available stock. I just wish we were given a clear explanation or at least an exception like holding for the next restock because I find it unfair. Corporate please take look into the Texas locations and possibly enforce accuracy when it comes to...
Read moreWe visited the Pop mart location in Sugar Land, Texas on March 7, 2025 and our visit was very nice. The store was clean and neat. We got there at opening and spent a few hundred dollars in two transactions. My husband paid first and spent roughly around $100.00 while I continued to look and shop around. Then I proceeded to make my purchase and spent around $200.00. While I was wrapping up the transaction, I asked the cashier if they had a reward system or membership system and he proceeded to tell me yes so I told him I wanted to create an account so that I could get points so then I asked him if he had asked my husband if he got points or was he asked to create an account and we were told no that they didn’t ask us if we wanted to create an account so we were not able to Get those points that my husband spent on mine or he wasn’t able to create one because he wasn’t asked to create one. So my husband was not offered a membership or reward account. They didn’t have any labubus in stock to purchase...
