Inspiration Stage — Attraction in Sugar Land

As a mom of 6 I am a very patient person. No way I could survive motherhood if I wasn't. Trying to keep kids busy and have it work with everyone's schedule including the fact that I work overnights as a doula is challenging but hooray I found a class for my 10 year old. I paid about a month in advance and got him pumped up for this new adventure which he was very apprehensive about since he had never done anything with theater. Had to make sure my schedule was clear for those nights so shifted my schedule to accommodate. Day of class, there was no class. Arrived and some other class or rehearsal was going on. Woman there had me speak on the phone to someone else letting me know that the class was cancelled due to poor sign up. Something they were well aware of prior to that day. I was informed that an assistant was supposed to contact me but I did not receive a call, text or email, all three forms of communication readily available. Ok well bummer. Things happen. So I was asked if I wanted a refund or credit. I needed amount to review alternative classes to see if it would work with our families schedule. Nothing else would so I informed that I would like a refund. Revived a vague email and vague voicemail - which when I returned the call they never answered so I left a voicemail which was never returned. I replied to the email asking if this was confirmation of a refund and if not, please process. Over a week later and I never received any communication or refund. Finally via texts someone got back to me and let me know that oops, her husband processed as a credit but he refunded other people, just not mine. Don't know how that information helps in anyway. I had expectations for this place and hoped my son would have a memorable experience and I fully understand having to cancel a class due to poor attendance, but the LACK OF COMMUNICATION was unreal.

I hope that classes and shows here are spectacular and that kids who get to attend have a fantastic time and that as a whole whomever is in charge, adhears to a new checks and balances system to make sure multiple mistakes with one potential...

If you have children.. 5-18 pay attention. This is worth every second of both yours and their time, regardless of whether its acting in a show or simply watching one.

Background: My daughter had the pleasure of walking in the doors at Inspiration Stage to see a show in 2021. Walking in off of the street, we didn't know what to expect, we just knew the name of the show "Tuck, Everlasting". If you would have asked me as we left, we felt like they didn't charge enough for admission. The trained talent dancing, singing, working in perfect synergy seemed as if they were a professional troupe.. but they were all children (of varying ages). We were enthralled.

Skip ahead 2 years and her doing 9 consecutive shows as an actor, we wouldn't trade our time at Inspiration Stage for anything. It has been quite literally life changing. Beyond the entertainment value, there is something magical and forming that happens during the training process: group growth.

They are effectively working as a unit, not without the expected frustrations of childhood/teenage drama, but even in it's presence they work together to produce a top-shelf quality show. The children learn so much - how to work together, how to wait for their time, how to build a product where they can't complete it on their own - skills that aren't typically learned until they join the workforce much later in life. Here they have a safe place to learn these valuable life lessons.

iStage has been formative in so many ways, but I would be remiss to not praise Mandy and Jeff, the proprietors of the stage. Building sets from the ground up, hand stitching costumes, creating so much more than the sum of the parts... incredible.

My child is a basketball star and that’s all he wants to eat and breathe. 🙄🙄🙄So, at first he was not thrilled about being enrolled in the camp. However, after his first day he couldn’t stop talking about how much he learned about acting in such a short period of time. He also told me, “This teacher is strict, she’s serious about us learning our lines but we have fun too!” He was mostly surprised that he could learn so much while having fun and meeting new friends. As a mother I am extremely particular in how I spend my funds and I can vouch that every bill was WELL WORTH THE EXPERIENCE. I am also particular about the area and the inside of facility. The facility is super safe and I do not have to worry about my child. There’s adequate snacks and even popcorn days!! My child is so happy!! He will forever remember these times.
