I was in this store earlier today with my best friend who was buying furniture for her new home. At first the female sales associate was eager to help since my friend was going to buy big pieces of furniture for her home and open a credit card as well. We noticed a sign that said a credit card could be opened right on the phone but the woman said āthe store gets credit for the cards if you open it with us. Itās what keeps us in business.ā So my friend agreed to open the credit card with her in store. As my friend is filling out the info she mentions sheās an associate with the company. The womanās entire disposition changed instantly. She couldnāt be bothered. At a point in the transaction there was a question about income. While my friend is an associate with the company, she does have a well paying full time job. When the amount was entered the sales associate responded with āthey have a way of checking those thingsā implying that the information was inaccurate. Once the credit card was approved my friend had questions about a certain material used and the woman was dismissive. When asked if there was a sample of the material the woman flipped through a few swatches she had and said ānope. Donāt have it.ā She did the same with a few books she had there. Then we looked at one and low and behold thereās the swatch. We ended up leaving and not purchasing anything as this womans rudeness ruined what was supposed to be a happy and exciting experience. After that experience I certainly will not be shopping there in the future. I will drive further away to another store to purchase my things, and Iām not an associate, so the other store will get full credit for all my purchases. In the words of Vivian Ward āYou work on commissions, right? Big...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePlease listen, as I often donāt write reviews. It saddens me that I have to write this review because I was so excited to use Pottery Barn furnishings to decorate my home. Imagine my excitement to find they offered at home design services. I called to schedule an at home appointment and waited with gleeful anticipation to meet with my designer. However, I received a call from Caleb not once, but twice!! informing me that it would be best if I came into the store vs. someone coming to my home. He asked if I understood how the process worked. I couldnāt use their service unless I was buying from Pottery Barn(duh!!) he went on to explain that they weāre trying to make a sale. Why did he assume that I donāt know how the process worked? This is the 4th home that my husband and I are buying. It bothers me that in 2023, we still have to concern ourselves with blatant stereotypical assumptions and treatment. The Sugarland Pottery Barn needs to train its employees to treat Everyone with dignity and respect. Training on how to deal with all customers. What I am happy about is the fact that I can warn others and hope they spend their money where they feel included and respected. Do you really want to make a sale, or do you want to sell to certain people? Hidden racism!!! I am also writing a letter to your corporate...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went into the Pottery Barn at First Colony today excited to buy some items for our new home. I also wanted to apply for a store card to take advantage of their current promotion. Upon my disclosure that I am an associate at an affiliated company the saleswoman became curt, condescending, and dismissive. The store was not busy yet she acted as though she could not be bothered with my questions. Additionally, she made what I felt like was a rude comment regarding the company's policy on income verification as if I was a) being untruthful and b) unaware that credit card companies do that?! This is not my first experience with this associate and while my last encounter was a couple of years ago (before I was an associate), I felt then that she was rude and dismissive but chalked it up to perhaps a "bad day". It wasn't a bad day, she's just rude and profiles customers. Its a shame because I know this company prides itself on diversity and customer service. I have frequented this particular store and have purchased several pieces from them. I will be taking my business and my excellent...
