I couldn't figure out what I wanted to eat tonight. All my stomach felt was emptiness and a hollow feeling. I decided to continue my birthday celebration and treat myself. Y'all know how I do. 😘
I have to give credit where it's due. However, I also have to give credit where it's less than due.
So, I stopped in to Floyd's Cajun Seafood and Steakhouse, because I'd been wanting to stop there for over a year. It was ALWAYS crowded and the wait time had me rethinking my whole life. Today, it wasn't as busy as normal.
I was greeted by two lovely hostesses. Since I was one deep, I opted to sit at the bar. While at the bar, it took awhile for them to acknowledge me with a menu and then I had to ask for a drink menu. I knew it had to be more than 10 minutes MAINLY because I was listening to a YouTube video that CJ's Karate instructor had just posted. So yes, I was completely aware of the time. I do that often to help me pinpoint times of service. 😉 As I sipped on my delicious Strawberry CROC-A-Rita with a Grand Marniér floater, I watched the bartenders and other staff interact. There was a friendly atmosphere in the restaurant, as well as friendly interaction between the staff. Clerk ID: Mo, ate slithers of watermelon while she put toppings of watermelon slices on the customer's drink glasses [without gloves..using the same fingers she used to serve herself watermelon]. My dad owned 3 restaurant locations. I know that's a no-no.
I ordered the Gulf Red Snapper Pontchartrain with a stuffed potato and asked that my Shrimp en Brochette come out simultaneously with my meal. The food was piping hot and as I mentioned earlier, my stomach was empty. So, I was very hungry. At any rate, ready to dig in as I watched the server approach me with my entrée and appetizer, I couldn't help but notice the presentation. Granted my awareness of price hikes with food and other things that are affecting our pockets and wallets, I understand....SOME THINGS. Plating was terrible, as was the taste. The food was bland. The texture of the Gulf Red Snapper was one least desired. It was rubbery. Therefore, I knew it was overcooked. I thought I'd be able to fork the fish, but quickly found that wasn't the case. The Snapper was TOUGH and the butter knife I was given did not help. I had to go over the same areas that I initially cut, multiple times. The seasoning [or lack thereof] had me leaving all but the stuffed potato on the plate. The Shrimp en Brochette tasted as if it had been frozen for weeks, then wrapped with bacon and thrown in a frying pan to make the bacon crispy. As a Foodie and seafood connoisseur, this was NOT fresh Seafood...AT👏🏾 ALL👏🏾
In essence, I could've thrown my plate to the kitchen, as if it was a Frisbee. No need to throw it back to me. I felt like I should've gone home and ate cereal. Pappadeaux's STILL wins the Red Snapper Pontchartrain with sautéed Spinach HANDS-DOWN!
I definitely need a do-over elsewhere. This restaurant was certainly a 3/10 for me. Not to mention, my receipt said 2, but I was a party of one sitting at the bar. I usually tip 20%. They're lucky they got $5. Service and food was sub-par to say the...
Read moreMy husband had been wanting to come out and try Floyd's every since i came a couple of Sundays ago with my parents and grandparents for my step father's birthday, and on that day everything was excellent; food, service, and drinks all on point. However, tonight when my husband was finally able to come try it we had very poor service, and the drinks were terrible. Our server took way too long to greet us, kept his head down and would not make eye contact, and then brought us tea that was so weak it was practically sugar and water. My husband tried to flag our server down several times so we could order and he blatantly ignored him. My husband also ordered a drink from the bar after our first appetizer arrived, we saw the server go to the bar and put it in and after that it never came. I went to the bathroom about 15 minutes after he put in the order and it was at the a bar sitting there just dying. 15 minutes after that, after we got our food, the server finally brought the drink out and my husband refused to accept it because it was so obviously watered down from sitting at the bar for at least 30 minutes. I never got a refill on my drink till i was almost done with my meal. Needless to say my husband, who looked forward to coming here for two weeks, was extremely disappointed as was i since i had such awesome service the time before. My husband and i both worked in the service industry for over ten years, he as a server and bartender, and i as a restaurant general manager, so we always try to be nice and hassle free to our servers and tip well over 20 percent everytime. Running a tab of 75 dollars between 2 people, which could have been higher had the drink not been sent back from negligence, should yeild better service than this, and the service we got tonight was a slap in the face considering we have both done our share in the industry. So probably will not be going back because we would rather not spend that much for piss poor...
Read moreI ordered the Red Fish and when it was brought out it was covered with a sauce so I couldn’t see it fully I took a a few bites and the group next to me told me to stop eating it. Due to it looked raw after looking again it was raw like seriously a Raw piece of fish on top of some dressing. I told the bartender Warren who was super cool and he took it to the kitchen. The group next to me at the bar instructed me to take some pepto bismol or something tonight due to ate a nice amount of it before I noticed. I was really nice to the lady supervisor who came out and she got me another redfish which took another 12 min or so. This was my first time eating for the day & I was really hungry so I ate the next one and had another drink. Once I got the check I was surprised to see they didn’t even cover the meal which I thought was ridiculous due to Warren said it was raw as well as the guest sitting next to me at the bar and the supervisor. It’s only a 21$ meal I spent $50 on couple drinks and a desert & I plan on stopping at Walgreens to get some pepto bismol and I’m seriously kinda nervous about getting ill or food poisoning I have to work tomorrow. To only get comped $10 for the wait and inconvenience is absurd i used to own a restaurant I would have absolutely covered half the bill atleast. They took the fish so fast I didn’t get a pic but I will post a pic of the receipt to confirm what happened. This wasn’t handled properly and the group next to me thought it was absurd as well. Hopefully I don’t puke tonight but I had to give a review to show my dissatisfaction. I have to be at work at 6am and can’t afford to get sick. The supervisor said if she comps the entire meal she will get in trouble which is insane. If I get sick I’m...
