Walgreens Pharmacy — Local services in Sunnyvale

This is probably one of the worst pharmacies I’ve ever been to. Having used Walgreens for years, this particular one is always understaffed, understocked & most likely you’ll have to wait anywhere from 15 minutes to 45 minutes in line to pick up prescriptions that are ready & waiting to be picked up. (No driive-thru) People with mobility & stamina issues have no where to sit. They regularly harrass me for prescriptions for pain & cough medicine— now requiring my doctor’s office to give extra documentation (which are provided) & the pharmacist still will not fill the prescription. Therefore, I’m repeatedly out of my prescribed medicine. I have been advised by my doctors to not use over the counter stuff. This pharmacy overrides my doctors for everything or they’re out of stock. I have to travel up & down the state for my job & sometimes have to get my meds at different Walgreen locations without this scrutiny. Also, due to mobility issues, I have a caregiver pick up my meds sometimes & they give him the 3rd degree most times he goes to get my prescriptions. It’s sad that the local neighborhood pharmacies don’t build relationships at all with their regular customers anymore. If you have a choice, do not use this pharmacy.

Second time I called for a particular service and was then denied upon showing up.

First time I called asking about walk-ins for flu shots, and was assured I could do that. Upon arrival the pharmacist said they stopped taking walk ins that day. Pharmacist was in an angry/confrontational mood (hey it happens) and asked who I spoke to. All I could say was it was a gentleman, as I wasn’t expecting to need that information later.

Tonight, in need of quick turnaround for passport photos, I called to ensure the store provided the service. They said yes. I asked what time, she said 8:30, maybe to 8:45. I got dressed and arrived as soon as possible, 8:34. A few minutes late but within the 8:45 time window. I was told they had just put it away. When I mentioned I had called and confirmed the time, after five minutes the woman I had spoken to on the phone came. I mentioned that she said 8:30 to maybe 8:45. She said sorry, they had already put it away, and how they are understaffed. Respectful, but still. I’d expect since I had done my due diligence beforehand they would work with me.

It is no wonder that ALL pharmacies are understaffed right now. I have nothing but sympathy for people who work in this field and have to put up with borderline verbal abuse from impatient patients. Despite witnessing more than 75% of customers being rude to the man at the pharmacy checkout, he was polite to each and every person and didn’t not retaliate. The pharmacist was a very pleasant woman, and it was my most painless flu shot ever. They also have lollipops for pediatric patients! I would highly recommend this pharmacy to all kind and...
